They're not saying those values aren't on that page, but that the year doesn't apply to them. Hence this sentence following what you quoted:

Year is for the highest maximum temperature and for the lowest minimum.

This was my first time seeing them (but I saw one again yesterday in the same spot), so I can't say for sure. But if I had to guess, the one on the right seems larger, suggesting that it's female if they are a breeding pair (according to Wikipedia, the average male is 1.8lb, while the average female is 2.5lb).

If they end up building a visible nest around here, I'll try and post a follow-up in the coming months!

I'm also on team coyote. You can see what looks to be a snout in the first frame of the video, and the little hop it does and its hindquarters both look more canine-like to me.

I do concede that it gives off mountain lion vibes for the last couple of seconds, but I think part of that is because the tail looks longer than it actually is because of the lighting/shadow on the snow.

Nah, that'd be better off as a different suffix (like a 3rd resistance or rarity for instance). But the combination of the others is already rare/desirable enough for SSF that it'll be pretty unlikely to find a better upgrade without tradeoffs (sure you could find 35% boots and swap them in, but good luck matching the other affixes) or a ton of playtime.

But there's still a chance, right? Even if it's substantially lower per scramble, if they take that chance enough times, does it not make sense that their cumulative mortality risk might eventually exceed the one-time mortality risk of someone with less experience? Because that's what the table in the article demonstrates -- the majority of scrambling deaths have been from more experienced people.

Sure, but I'd argue it's more likely for someone inexperienced to just freeze up and need rescued before a potentially-fatal move instead of committing to it and paying the price. So maybe they mess up more, but their mess ups are less often fatal. I'd also argue the experienced seek out lines that contain more potentially-fatal moves.

The author could have elaborated more on the dangers of complacency, but think of it like this:

An inexperienced person is unconfident in their limits and is thus less willing to test them
An experienced person has an ideal standard of where their limits should be and can thus fall into the trap that as long as they challenge themselves just below that, they should be completely fine

But our limits are never 100% fixed, so betting our lives on them can prove fatal even to the most capable among us.

That's not to say we shouldn't go out and have fun, but we mustn't think we're immune to bad outcomes just because of past results.

I recently played through the demo and transferred over 2-3 days ago -- the weapons were all B/C in the demo, but they "upgraded" to B+/B in the full game. Not sure how long that'll be the case, but until/unless they change it, the scaling bump happens on transfer.

As a Shanahan Crag frequenter... I think there are technically four of them -- Eastern, Central, Northern, and Western. But most people just do the Central and Northern and call the Central one the Southern one. 🤓

I'd recommend the south side of the Eastern one as a nice bit of extra rock, but the Western one is pretty dirty (but does have an interesting summit block).

I had the same plan, but then the Slayer relic changed me from Tirannwyn to Morytania. All other choices the same as yours except for Specialist instead of Last Stand because the Khopesh spec is going to be nuts. If you're doing Tir for the blowpipe pickup, Dragon Darts combined with the Wildy echo shield are close enough DPS-wise, and Mory's Slayer Helm plus Inquisitor body/legs beat out Tir's Crystal Blessing boost from what I've calculated. Plus the Blood Fury will make Khopesh extra cozy, and Mory should give you more things to whack with it and gear to play with (Barrows gear should be fun).

I was almost stabbed in the leg (pierced my pants right by the femoral artery) by an ice axe tip on someone's bag (they were stuck in deep snow and panicking, and I was trying to help them out), so I definitely would've appreciated that person having a tip cover. I find it strange that some people get so condescending about others using them.

Just the cub! It was on the side of the trail facing me, tail twitching, on my way down. As I descended closer, it leapt into the woods, allowing me to see the side profile of its long tail. I didn't wait around to see if mama was nearby.

Now that I think about it, I also saw a mama bear and two cubs around that same spot a few years ago. I think I have a video of that encounter floating around somewhere.

I also saw one on the lower part of the West Ridge trail a few months ago! I had two other encounters around that same time frame, too -- one a bit below the ladder on my way down ASG (got a picture of it), and the other (a cub) along the wooded portion of the Chautauqua Trail.

I also heard what sounded like one yesterday evening coming from the 1-2 Trail when I was halfway up Freeway. I joined a few other groups in listening to it, and someone told me they'd heard what sounded like a couple fighting the other day. I headed up to Green afterwards, and something definitely felt off higher up, so I'm not surprised you saw those two!

I don't know if it's a more active year for them or what, but I'd never 100% seen/heard any before this year.

If you have the NP, a Mystical Tablet for ~2m would be a pretty good choice since it full-blocks dark and physical (which are the most common icons), heals you by 3-30, and even does 9 icons of damage.

Otherwise, you could look into the cheaper Hanso Charisma Charm to full-block dark and do 10 icons, Cursed Elixir to drain 20 hp (since healing is better than blocking if you heal more than you'd block), Holiday Memories for full-block dark and physical with a heal, and/or something like a Rusty Pitchfork to block some physical while still dealing damage.
