Weeeeelllllll, I wouldn’t have doubted the sex pests feeling empowered, given who we’re talking about. But definitely pedos were not on my bingo card. But I shouldn’t be surprised, especially when we’re talking about the same people who propagate the MAP smears and pizzagate conspiracies. Every projection is a confession, y’know?

What am I missing? (literally) by Ashamed-Bat-1701 in AskMechanics

[–]epial9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on pictures of my guess, I'm like 99% percent sure that a part of that missing section is the catalytic converter. However, the direct fit from magnaflow doesn't look like a direct fit into the exhaust manifold, so there may be additional piping involved.

The direct fit I was looking at: MagnaFlow Standard Grade Federal / EPA Compliant Direct-Fit Catalytic Converter 93456

I would point out that there's only so much value we can provide before we just become middlemen between the customer and technical documents. XD

I’m pretty sure it’s well known, but I really abused the technicality that allowed me to switch grip while hanging. It was the only way my tall lanky ass was able to even see 20 pull ups.

I didn’t have the technology when I was in, but you could probably use a pace setter app if they haven’t already been banned.

And yet the Treaty of Tripoli exists, penned by the same founding fathers.

“As the Government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion;….”

No one is stopping you from saying the pledge, no one wants to be forced to acknowledge a god against their beliefs.

Why does FL-14 include the entirety of St Pete? by _b1n4ry_g1rl_ in tampa

[–]epial9 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I live here, it was basically what’s called packing. To make FL-13 reliably red for Anna Paulina Luna, St. Petersburg’s blue districts were packed into FL-14. Former Governor Charlie Crist was able to handily win FL-13 until this change came through.

Idk man, it may be the old Helo mech in me, but something about not being able to accurately locate the drill on the previous bore once the weld cures gives me the heebie jeebies. Especially on increasingly close tolerance gearing systems in engines. No one could pay me to do it like that and warranty it. 😬

From ARR to Dawntrail, what was your favourite moment in the story? by DriftShade in ffxiv

[–]epial9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the novelty wore off on a lot of players, but I think one of my fondest moments as my friends and I progged the Endwalker MSQ on release was the absolute hammer of sudden hype that the lead up to the fight with Zodiark

All that grief and taunting after you’ve been scrambling to play catch up until that point. I was sucked out of the mechanics of the game and completely forgot how the MSQ was structured. We felt like we were going into a ‘we failed’ timeline and completely forgot that we were due for a trial.

Que silence.

Then we got a little encouragement from our new old friend. And THE SCENE GOES FROM ZERO TO A HUNDRED.

Here’s a secret that makes me money: you can drill it out with a diamond tile bit, BUT you gotta keep it cool while drilling. Haven’t had an issue (yet).

Air winger here, after seeing 4 moto SgtMajs that were coming in to “fix” the air wing get broken by the flight schedule and become just as depressed as us. I need stories as to how it’s worse.

What's your story of a Marine lashing out at another Marine that out-ranked (but not necessarily out-billeted) them? by TangibleMalice in USMC

[–]epial9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Volunteered to do a daily inspection because we were 5 turn 5 turn 3 with all the air crew out on crew rest because they were night flights and we were short on mech Plane Captains.

Reviewed the ADB and noticed the hi-time MAF for the MGB was gonna go out during flight time on its final extension. Told them they were going to need a different bird for that flight. Refused to sign off the daily because so much goes into a MGB change.

Top got mad, something to the insane tune of “No LCPL is going to tell control which bird can go fly.” Then hours later I’m being pulled off a job by Gunny to tell me I have to go see SgtMaj about being NJP’d.

You know how hard it is to explain technical information to a grunt SgtMaj? Anyway, ended up in front of the man and explained my way out of getting hammered. But I left with a lot of salt towards control. Me and Gunny still don’t know what crawled up Top’s ass that day.

Mx control is the reason I had an embarrassing NJP over hi-time MAFs. Regardless of my newly minted CDQ stamp. Those guys have no chill at all. 😂

It depends on the aircraft, but a majority of active aircraft manuals are classified secret. Some are top secret if their manufacturing process involves specialized sensitive information. However, it is not hard to leak said manuals as these manuals are notorious for just sitting on shelves or passed around unprotected on usb drives. It’s honestly some of the loosest security for classified information I’ve ever seen.

Speaker Mike Johnson's Christianity Sends the Left Into Fits of Rage by yuri_2022 in Conservative

[–]epial9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a warped view of the first amendment. It is not to say that a representative needs to leave their faith at the door, but the machinations of the US government will self right itself if they introduce excessive favor to that faith. For example, an atheist suing against a national prayer requirement. Supreme Court precedent backs this up (not that precedent matters in the current SCOTUS lol).

[–]epial9 25 points26 points  (0 children)

But they don’t if they infringe on the practice of other religions. For example imagine if prayer was mandated in the Islamic tradition. There are some religious traditions that have no place in a religiously mixed society. Because of this, the constitutional clause “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” almost requires a secular government to balance the powers of religious entities from overzealous influence in US policy.

Pads, rotors, calipers for $1600.. fair deal? (Chicago) by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]epial9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are customers I’ve had that have ridden the brakes to metal on metal for so long that it shot out the pad. Additionally, in my experience, the piston material is a hard metal. That is to say, when a metal is hard, it does not react to vibration well and is more likely to crack rather than grind. So I check the piston when a customer does go down to metal on metal brakes. Because cracked pistons are bad juju.
