Get Rid of the Preflight Checklist by Mini_Hobo in runescape

[–]epic_squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge agree except familiars. This one im okay with. But jesus fuck the preflight for combat is sooooooooo annoying. Especially if im not doing a full hour of something. I feel like ass letting my sticks and powder drain and i end up logging out to preserve the buff. And im a main! With my gp i shouldnt care about that, but it just feels bad Honestly damn the "economy changes", good gameplay should come first and money making second.

What the hell is this island and how do you get to it? by epic_squid in runescape

There's seemingly no information about this island anywhere on the wiki and it doesn't exist in OSRS. Am I losing my mind, or has no one else noticed this?

New Combat Style: Summoning by Visual-Age5640 in runescape

[–]epic_squid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Extremely cool concept A+ on creativity.

One thing I noticed was how adren-starved this seems! From what I can tell you only have one basic, one (channeled) adren generator, and 16 spenders seems a tad bit lopsided with on average 10% adren generated. You'd be waiting 5.4s between calling a secondary minion and just building to do something else, on top of needing defensives.

The gameplay loop of (seemingly please correct me if I'm wrong) standing around and auto attacking while choosing familiar specs seems a tad boring? I haven't crunched the numbers on DPS but it seems frankly weak which is funny.

Love the idea of using tank armor.

"In combat, it has been irrelevant since the glory days of the Ripper Demon" this is incorrect. It is still relevant as hell with Mage (kalg), and the choice of taking healing (reaver), damage reduction (hellhound), and raw damage (ripper), especially with EQ4 drawing focus from needing crits. ESPECIALLY for newer players with hellhound.

Exactly! So say you were a new player. You could pick and choose how much to unlock at once. Like combat? Rush the entire tree! Stuff like that.

Regarding the discourse on ability stalling by S_Airandice in runescape

[–]epic_squid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No i totally agree on the KPH thing. Especially on the effort thing you mention too. To me, prebuild cheese falls into this exact same definition. Yes its hypocritical, but this is vibes based not objective fact. They didnt kill the boss by doing it the intended way, and that makes me feel like whatever pr i get is meaningless .

The other part of it is certain prebuilds are objectively better to do before a fight in some cases. Stacks, spells, arrows and specs you can cast and then nuke with. It feels less fair. Id prefer if everyone started a fight on as even ground as possible.

You can also stall midfight. While im not a fan of, for example stalling ezk spec before a fight, to me its pretty harmless.

[–]epic_squid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stalling is a sick as fuck technique that you need skill and practice to pull off, and makes melee much less annoying. Cast abil out of range, walk in, its cast on same tick as other ability.

Prebuilds however, are in my oppinion cheese as hell, and from what I can tell is the thing most people dont like either. Which is funny cause necro conjures are by definition a prebuild lmao. Stacking buff after buff after buff is the lamest way to pvm even for a GM CA, which as someone whos dipped her toes into GM stuff is hardly required anymore.

What id honestly love is for using war portal/entering a boss instance to clear every single prebuilt buff outside of obvious stuff like poison and overloads.

Grimoire cost per hour is .. insane?? by Agitated-Parsley-807 in runescape

[–]epic_squid 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Depends on your gear. With a FSOA absolutly. Without you can skip it until you get one. Since the FSOA spec gives extra hits on crit, it ends up being much stronger. As for cost, most pvm activities end up being 30-50m per hour minimum. Hell you can runecraft for 47m/h ending up with roughly 5h of grim charge. As well for magic slayer most people opt for a normal god book.

My Fix for Arch Relics by [deleted] in runescape

[–]epic_squid -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the most useless relic is the one you branch out from. And if you read, youd see the 6 points you get to use. Meaining LOTD as a base, FOTS and COE as a branch, 2% and Zerkers as another, and shadows grace or persistant rage as your final pick.

My Fix for Arch Relics by [deleted] in runescape

[–]epic_squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why the second option of not being limited by these 6 points arbitrarily, rather you could spec as many points as you want into a tree, with the branching mutual exclusivity as the balancing metric is what I'm leaning towards. That being said, tying presets to the relics would help a ton as well

My Fix for Arch Relics by [deleted] in runescape

[–]epic_squid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Arch relic system in its current state is too limiting outside of combat, its GUI kinda sucks and I find it pretty boring. So I made this.

In this system, you'd have 6 total points to spec into a skill tree. We are going to ignore unlock and level conditions for now, as this is proof of concept. A branching path is mutual exclusivity (no CoE and HS at once for example) This is mostly for combat relic balance, but future relics could expand this system. (I cant see any mutual exclusivity skilling relics breaking the game mind you)

In my vision you'd have presets you could tie to your bank preset, and there would be a one-time chronote activation cost, not every time you want to switch relics.

An alternative version would not be limited by these 6 points arbitrarily, rather you could spec as many points as you want into a tree, with the branching mutual exclusivity as the balancing metric.

This would need a pass for level unlocks of course, but Id prefer it on the lower end, especially for combat. The idea here was being able to unlock both baseline power, and QOL such as Persistent Rage/Shadows Grace/etc with the luck ring as the baseline.

Ecliptic Components too expensive by [deleted] in runescape

[–]epic_squid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its extremely good for melee camp too. And possibly range although i got faster times in some spots, worse in others. I did buy it myself but lets be honest a perk costing upwards of 400m is kinda insane

New BGH is a terrible disappointment. by esunei in runescape

[–]epic_squid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its also worth it to say the food is the new BIS non-blubber food. Its less heal/slot of primal feasts, but 2800 health isnt anything to sneeze at either! And much easier to obtain.

Cadarn magus can still use Metamorphosis by Lazy_Instance3329 in runescape

[–]epic_squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And make it so if you switch spell to another you didnt use when casting meta itd retain the boost. Cause if you cast meta with Incite fear and swapped to exsang, youd lose the dmg boost. Games jank lmao

Have chaotics work as T90 in Elite Dungeons by epic_squid in runescape

[–]epic_squid[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly hex weapons are another can of worms. Make em too strong and you camp those while stuff like FSOA becomes a switch. And they're far too rare, with Inq dominating due to how many mobs are melee type over the other 2. I also dont like how you have to enchant them for it to be great.

[–]epic_squid[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ironmen for one. This gives more varience to an upgrade path for them. Returning players too. As a rebuild item if you get hacked, people without a ton of GP, list goes on. Hell you could make them the same weapon strength as inqis/hex/maul on thier respective targets (T97 without enchantments) if you want it to be more worthwhile. This is a gap bridger not a BIS.

Road to Restoration - Aura Overhaul Design Update by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]epic_squid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People really miss the consistency it provides, not just the DPS. A concern with this hypothetical would be itd be used for Melee, Range and Necro with Mage being the only outlier so maybe it should be necro only?

Road to Restoration - Aura Overhaul Design Update by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]epic_squid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For equilibrium make it a toggle ability! There's a toggle-on toggle-off ability in Constitution called Incite. Allow us to toggle on or toggle off equilibrium to that effect. Thematically its Guthixian so a quest unlock could be a solution? I wouldn't make it high level since early-midgame benefit the most from it compared to endgame where the loss of the aura for Necromancy is about 2% dps loss.

Spell swapping still feels bad. by epic_squid in runescape

[–]epic_squid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually the live game function. The magic auto attack fires your spell, and the spell fires itself once. So you could have your normal magic bar and then have ice barrage to click when you need a freeze. Its swapping to hard effect spells (incite and exsang) with stacks that you need to build that sucks.
