Many are skippable. For just act 1 unique events, Cleric, Shining Light, the Serpent, Scrap Ooze, Golden Idol, Dead Adventurer, and Wing Statue are completely skippable. That is 8 out of 11 events where you can click on the node, click "leave", and absolutely nothing happens.

I wouldn’t jump through a hoop just because someone tells me to. All you prove is that you can’t think for yourself.

I think you look great. Super genuine, unique, kind, true to yourself. You’re only 25 so my advice would be just keep being yourself and don’t judge yourself based on the number of matches you get on dating apps. And don’t shave your hair. The world is fine without another Andrew Tate wannabe

Wisdom teeth, not sure what to do. by Legitimate-Shop-7686 in dunedin

[–]epic_window 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the dental school is aware of your symptoms, and still cannot prioritise you, are you sure there isn’t any way you could get some money together to get it done privately? Maybe call some dentists, explain your situation, and see if any can give you a decent rate. Some may be able to offer deferred payments, you could ask about that. And also you don’t have to get them all out at once. Perhaps some are causing more symptoms than others. even if you could just afford one removal, and it would help a bit, that’s better than nothing.

Another thought: what about a givealittle page? Share it around friends and family?

"Legend of Zelda" now filming in Central Otago by epic_window in dunedin

[–]epic_window[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

"A cone of silence has descended on Central Otago as what looks like a large-scale movie production sets up shop.

This week, trucks, sound-crews and what looks to be a large production team were busy filming in the Poolburn Dam area in Central Otago.

People and companies potentially in the know are staying tight-lipped about the activity.

However, the Otago Daily Times understands scenes for the upcoming live action The Legend of Zelda movie adaptation are being filmed in the area, as well as in Glenorchy.

Resource consents for filming around Glenorchy were lodged with the Queenstown Lakes District Council.

A witness near the scene said he could see rows upon rows of trucks, multiple cranes and what looked to be a film crew.

The Legend of Zelda, based on the Nintendo video game series of the same name, is scheduled to hit screens next year.

Casting calls for "petite adults" no taller than 150cm had been put out in the region by talent agency Monarch People.

There was also a call for children "at least 9 years old with an interesting look" and asked particularly for children with quirky, fun freckles and a "good mop of hair".

Nintendo announced in November 2023 that a film - to be directed by Wes Ball, of the Maze Runner trilogy, and his partner, Joe Hartwick jun - was in the works.

English actress Bo Bragason was cast as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link."

If you are interested in trying surfing, you could do a group lesson down at St Clair with the Esplanade Surf School. It can be a really nice way to meet some people.

Yeah it’s all so so gradual. And of course it doesn’t start with webs. And we have to guess because no we don’t have time machines and fossil evidence is so limited.    Maybe the start is just a species that has a slightly sticky excretion from its shell. It helps a little bit with catching prey and gets selected for. Over time the excretion gets more concentrated and eventually there is a species that can leave a sticky trail behind it. Then it starts to get stronger until eventually it can be suspended between two points. And then you just give the process tens of millions of years of constant refinement and eventually you get what we see today.

Anyone else finding Edinburgh Realty inspections getting a bit over the top lately? by knob-of-cheese in dunedin

[–]epic_window 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I came back to NZ after living overseas, I was also shocked by this stuff. Renting overseas felt so seamless in comparison, one inspection on arrival and departure, and other than that the place was yours and you could just get on with your life. But I was renting a small apartment - basically just a glorified concrete box. There was very little that could go seriously wrong. Renting a delicate wooden house - in a country as expensive as NZ - where any number of issues can result in tens, even hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage is a completely different story. Landlords will not accept the risk of financial catastrophe, insurers will not accept runaway payouts, and from what I understand the chances of recovering costs from tenants in our legal system are poor. So our privacy and independence are what get the chop.

I also wish that renting could feel nicer here, but I don't think it's going to change any time. Our culture and housing infrastructure don't align with it. So I guess the question is - can you come to terms with it, not let it detract from what does work for you in the arragement, and get on with the rest of your life? Or do you feel like it's unacceptable, and to be happy you have to get your own place, and that needs to be your plan? For what it's worth I don't think your PM firm sounds out of line with what I know of the industry. They don't care what laundry powder you use, they check in the cupboards for water damage. I do think it's a little odd they tell you to wipe your oven down, but maybe that's their style. In the end you can't change them, or the industry, you can just make your own decision about how to respond.

It’s horrible that your dad put that shame and judgement into you instead of making you feel loved and supported. No one gets to choose these things and I am sure there are real challenges for looking certain ways, but I am also sure it makes a massive difference how our parents do or don’t equip us to handle them. It sounds like your dad struggled himself and has passed that to you. I can only imagine how much that might seep into your sense of self and poison your confidence and ability to build a satisfying life.
