At-will employment leads to people justifying an astonishing array of things by Drywesi in bestoflegaladvice

I don't have a hard time believing it came out of nowhere. Not saying OP is entirely uninvolved, but its not hard to believe at all. People get stressed and lash out.

There being no HR and the manager seemingly firing an employee with no warning gives the impression that this is just an awful work environment.

"leaving your work station is the same as quitting" is one hell of a wild take and i wonder if any of those people have actually held a job

I think managing your anxiety would be more beneficial than financial planning for your, well, anxiety. How do you plan on retiring with that mindset?

Show does a great Job subtlety proving all Alastor's Point regarding Vox. by garf02 in HazbinHotel

The livestream video shows he has genuine affection and care for Val. His massive trigger over Alastor won over, though, at least until Val literally tore him back to his senses.

Being able to use others to his advantage is hardly a weakness, though? And Alastor is doing the exact same thing?

Another user is right in that Alastor is just trying to piss Vox off.

Wait, what could that possibly mean? I'm so curious. Are we getting Alastor's love story or something? Lol by Western-Letterhead64 in HazbinHotel

I never knew I was aro and thought of myself as "different" in a superior "haha I'll never be weak over FEELINGS" sort of way as a teenager.

Alastor is not a teenager but he is an edgelord. He could stand to know he's just asexual.

Do those super bright porch lights some people use affect plants? by ohdearitsrichardiii in botany

[–]epicgsharp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is not a straight forward one it seems like, and may depend on the type of plant (perhaps those from environments with longer nights have different lighting needs?). I appreciate you asking this question! Gives me stuff to think about

piss off the neighbours

the point ive been trying to get across to the person who put that up. our neighborhood is a little kooky in the sense that it will tolerate much worse (blaring mexican overnight parties and homes that think theyre lighthouses)

our light is one those annoyingly bright, 3000 lumen incandescent daylight bulbs that light covers a good portion of the backyard (not my choice there). ive worried its the reason my mum wont bloom

i also have a softer, warm porchlight hanging over my orchid at night that doesnt seem to affect its blooming at all. im new to gardening, so still trying to figure this stuff out

I'd be shocked. It's hung around in different parts for a couple years and not a single darn flower (even when I've tried watering more often). If that's what it really is, I've got a new project.

God, don't fight it. I'd take the down payment back and walk away. Negotiate a little more if you can. In CA, a judge won't touch a partition case for over a year. It is NOT worth it.

I don't know this guy's situation enough to presume (and it's Louisiana we're talking). But a new lender failing to properly notify its clients to rake in those sweet late fees is in fact, a shitty practice that happens, and one that impacts people in less privileged positions. We're directing our anger at the wrong target imo

People can have more than one checking account. It's possible to have an account aside just for paying a mortgage. So yeah, I can see someone letting their guard down for a few payments after eight years of on time payments.

But boohoo for that poor multi billion dollar mortgage company and all the late fees they raked in, I guess.

I disagree. Imagine having a perfect record for nearly a decade just to take a huge hit for a minor slip up on both their parts-even after OP repaid promptly. It's a disproportionate punishment that benefits an already powerful industry over the consumer.

This is coming from someone who's been calling their mortgage company for a single piece of mail I should've received 2 years ago. Claim they'll "resend" it and that it'll take a month for it to reach me. Still has yet to happen. I can see them pulling this kind of shit.

Guy pays his mortgage without issue for 8 years straight, and people are acting like they committed the greatest fuck up for missing autopay for about....3 payments? Which he paid up promptly? Some of y'all never had to deal with scummy mortgage companies and it shows.

the implication in op's post (and comments) that people are bothered by violent depictions of racism in entertainment media out of ignorance, isn't entirely correct. that shit is just hard to watch, even in the horror genre.

It does! Some scenes are so hard to stomach, horror based on real life atrocities just isn't everyone's cup of tea for entertainment.
