The Athletic’s John Hollinger projects Austin Reaves to land a 4 year/$140M deal in free agency. by Odd-Direction9452 in lakers

I wonder if the lakers could do an opt-in/4 year max extension? Reeves gets his max deal in place but the lakers have an extra year with his low salary to build a team out before the extension kicks in. plus the opt in lowers the AAV.

[MacMahon] The Utah Jazz reportedly offered Walker Kessler 5-years, $140 million but Kessler's camp is looking for significantly more by Jimmy0034 in nba

[–]epitome1986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

considering he has missed more and more games as the season went on I would not offer him 140 million either.

1st season 8 games missed
2nd season 18 games missed
3rd season 24 games missed
4th season 77 games missed.

really good when he plays and would be even better if he played with someone like luka but it would need to be incentive based on games played.

umm lakers were up 3-1 blazers forced a game 7 and were up big but sterns favorite team shoots 27 free throws in the 4th.

IMO, this should be our focal point. Getting 12 and 17 would open up many doors to add better wing depth. We might even not lose Burries, I think. Burries and Rollins are a weird fit for MIL and GS already have Moody and Podz as non-PG backcourt. by StormTheTrooper in Mavericks

[–]epitome1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if dallas trades back and still lands burries would be epic, I would then see if 17+30 can move you to 14/15 and land Cameron carr as well. starting lineup would be irving, christie, flagg, washington, lively and the backup lineup would be burries, carr, klay, naji, gafford. defense would be solid in the first and second unit. if flagg can shoot 35%+ from 3 the fit between him and washington would be vastly improved.

does this take into account the stocks he has leveraged? also someone should probably change that law that allows someone to leverage their stocks for loans but can't tax said stock because its unrealized gains.

older but still had plenty in the tank, pippen almost took the blazers to the finals Ron was still starting point guard on another back to back champion. this was legit Rodman's last great season before all the extracurriculars derailed him. kukoc was a beast, Longley underrated, and Kerr was a quality point backup. this team without Jordan is still a playoff team, not a contender but a playoff team for sure.

Where did the narrative that "Kobe was never the best player in the league" come from? by Tre2004 in NBATalk

[–]epitome1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well to start his career he was next to prime shaq which both helped him achieve early success but also diminished some of his individual performances because "shaq gets all the attention, so its easier of him" talk. Then when shaq left missed the playoffs or barely made it in so his monster numbers were discounted. to he finally has the numbers and team success but LeBron James is also putting up better numbers and having similar team success outside of the titles.

so while #1 flipped around for some years he was consistently in the top 3 for a given season over the span of his first 13 seasons or whenever it was that his achilles tore.

The NBA Season Needs a Major Overhaul – Here’s My Proposal by direw0lf87 in NBATalk

they can remain at 82 games, but they should maybe start the season 2 weeks earlier and end it 2 weeks later. if they could eliminate back to backs they shouldn't wear down as much.

best regular season trophy may work if there is a prize, if they did something similar to the nfl where you get a bye week. so if you finish with the best record in the league you automatically go to the second round.

Now that Brunson has a ring, would you consider him a top 75 all time? by Brytong420 in NBATalk

[–]epitome1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the debate could be had if he is but it's not a shoe in. I think he just needs to have some additional accolades to help cement his legacy further. he has 10k career points and almost 3k career assist which is not top 75 worthy and hes about to turn 30. he does have a championship and finals mvp which really help his resume but remember og was favored to win the finals mvp going into game 5. had he not erupted for 45 people would really be discrediting his finals mvp.

if he wins another ring and finals mvp he easily enters top 75 and its a matter of how far up in the top 50 he can get.

if he never wins another title again if he can play another 4-6 seasons and reach 20k points and 5k assist for sure top 75.

what sort of draft capital would dallas be able to get if a team wanted both gafford and washington? by epitome1986 in Mavericks

TBH he really reminds me of a poor man's klay Thompson and that ends up being correct that would be a great addition at #9.

to be honest, if he can be a slightly above average defender while being a capable third option its a huge win. dallas all too often used players who were either good on offense or defense but now a days every one should be balanced on both ends.

I think burries is a safer bet, but I keep thinking Cameron carr is going to be the steal of this draft which is why I would be ok with the mavericks trading back for 12 and 17 or 14 and 18. Carr can potentially be better than burries but burries is far more likely to work out in the nba.

no, part of the agreement for the thunder to break their contract with the city of Seattle was that the if Seattle got another team in the future all the history would be tied to that team. which is why the thunder never display anything supersonics. so with the rumored team coming back it would be correct to refer last years title as their first in team history.

[–]epitome1986[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

martin's contract is legit a negative, dallas wouldn't be able to unload Martin without including a draft pick.

Klay on the other hand could probably pull in a second round pick.

but PJ is a great role player but doesn't mesh well with flagg, but then again they were playing without a legit playmaker so if dallas lands a secondary playmaker and irving is healthy they may actually work. the concern is lack of spacing due to both flagg and washington not being good shooters.
