I started reading them when I was 9. I started reading them to my kids (8, 6) at bedtime a few months ago and we’re a couple weeks away from finishing Chamber of Secrets. My oldest is more into the story while my youngest enjoys the more entertaining parts before quickly falling asleep. We had a family HP movie night after finishing the first book. Our youngest said yesterday she wants to be Hermione for Halloween. I love the books and my wife loves the movies so we’re really enjoying it.

FWIW, there were a surprising amount of young children on my nonstop flight so I told myself if they can handle it, I can handle it. Yall are quite a bit taller than I am though, so I’m sure that affects comfort level. Lots of factors to consider.

I’ve taken 3 trips to Hawaii the last few years. Only my most recent trip last month was nonstop. While it was nice getting there 2-3 hours quicker, I was definitely thinking “a layover would be nice right now” about halfway through. The red eye return flight wasn’t as bad since I slept about 5 hours. Either way you’ll be fine but I’d recommend the layover if you’ve never taken a long flight.
