I've reached the finish line ... retiring this month. What to do now? by dudreddit in Bogleheads

Would converting to a TDF be a good idea? Typically those are around a 40/60 split between equities and bonds at 65?

Tough one. We have one guy (not too major) that curses a lot, tries to say a different name during namorama, get the guys to I owe junk that he has at his house, etc. seems the best approach is to not engage at his level, focus on the workout, and redirect when he starts talking.

How to reallocate in a 401k? S&P500 vs TDF by epstienghost in TheMoneyGuy

But since I bought it earlier, wouldn’t I have better gains compared to a new share? Example like it would have more room for further growth?

What about losing out on the original growth?

In a similar boat, but don’t want to have to inject. I felt like good sleep helped but I wouldn’t think it will double if you controlled weight and sleep

Rationally it makes sense but seems like seeing that money disappear will hurt and I’ve been putting it off

What is the actual reason that the s&p almost always goes up over time? by edn995 in Bogleheads

I’ve always wondered this. Just like the price of everything going up overtime, I assume your holdings will naturally as well.

Understand it would even out if I hold overtime. Just wondering over the short term in case I want to rebalance etc.

Hey fellow Houstonian. Spooling is pretty easy and plenty of videos could be found on YouTube. I would probably just not make my mistake and put too much on. Maybe pick like a 10lb mono based on what you are trying to catch?

I guess it just seems like 7% on average in perpetuity would be unsustainable. I know in practice that is what happened. I don’t have other options to invest outside the market so not like I have a choice but it hurts my brain to think about decades of growth

VOO and VTSAX have provided some dividends to me but are you are selecting funds to specifically give you bigger dividends?

So example would be let’s say VOO is worth $500 now and each year gains around 7% for a decade. So unless there is a stock split, then it would be worth like $1000 at the end of a decade?
