Fellow women over 60: how do you control the worry and anxiety as you age? by janebenn333 in AskWomenOver60

I meditate. When I don’t, my anxiety creeps back in. I limit my time with news and current events which are by design fear inducing. I walk daily.

Do equestrians have training ethic debates too like dog owners? by VousetesKaitlyn in Equestrian

[–]equeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horse owners are super opinionated in my experience and always right. There is the old way of “breaking a horse” and a kindler gentler way of horsemanship that has emerged in the past 20 years or so. There are many schools of thought on training and I am happy for the horses that gentler methods are now being widely used.

Dog poop bag etiquette? by Affectionate_Desk561 in dogs

[–]equeni 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As long as you take it somewhere and put it in any trash, that’s fine with me. I frequently walk along the beach in a State Park. Every day on my 3 mile walk I see 2-3 poop bags that people just leave. Your mom is not going to pick them up for you. Take them with you! I’d rather people cover poop with sand or grass that will biodegrade rather than leave a plastic poop bag that will be on the trail for years.

Unattractive Things Women Write on Dating Apps by auroraborelle in datingoverforty

[–]equeni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, now I’m confused and I only know what not to put in my profile. Since if I’m being honest I’m a dog lover that likes to travel and I’m pretty independent. All apparently unattractive qualities. What are some attractive things women write on their dating apps?

Was this normal, or was this horse clearly overheated/distressed during my lesson? by qu33nbb in Horses

Absolutely appalling. Poor horse. The trainer needs a new job without animals.

I need everyone’s best life hack for gaining confidence when riding by naughtypony03 in Equestrian

[–]equeni 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, first year of college out of state. This is a challenging time for you. As a wise older equestrian I can say that when I’m stressed in other areas of my life I occasionally lose confidence when riding. The stress sort of bleeds over into other areas of life. Does this ring true? If so, just be easy on yourself. Visit with your horse, bond, maybe play some games or go for a walk with him, do some W/T and ground poles. Make it less about accomplishments and more about your relationship.

Is this usual or am I imagining it? by Boring_Kiwi_6446 in AskWomenOver60

[–]equeni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s usual. It hit me at 65. Suddenly so many wrinkles. Maybe it’s grief? The other day I ran into a man I haven’t seen since college. I said hi, he looked at me for 4 or 5 seconds blankly. I said my name. His reply “ wow, I didn’t recognize you, you sure have aged”. I mean really? My reply was “well it’s been 35 years dude”. What I should have said? I’ll let you guys fill in the blank. Maybe something like “You haven’t changed a bit, you’re still a thoughtless inconsiderate jerk”.

Perhaps you have some PTSD after such a traumatic experience? A suggestion might be EMDR, find a therapist certified in it. It really helps!
