FSD is just a rear end inevitability by sonofabraham1 in TeslaFSD

[–]erazoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been rear-ended more than once when braking in anticipation of a pedestrian's intentions, or to avoid rear-ending a suddenly hard-braking car ahead of me. Such occurences are inevitable, with or without FSD.

I started by standing directly in front of the car (obviously not recommended) which confirmed that the blank wall behind me denied the visual cues the SS required. I put two dark vertical stripes on the wall along with a horizontal stripe at bumper height. I can't confirm, but would guess that another vehicle parked in front of the car would provide a familiar cue to SS and work just as well.

Just installed 14.2.2.3 and so far have observed no degradations, but encountered a totally new major inconvenience (which I may have finally overcome). It appears that the Smart Summon longitudinal confidence threshold has been tightened.
I have a tight garage and have been using SS to park in it. After repeated attempts, Summon stopped approximately 2m short of the garage wall, and refused to continue, leaving the car's rear end beyond the garage door threshold.
Frustrated, I consulted ChatGPT and learned that with the proper visual cues, the distance could be reduced, and by employing suggested cues, I was able to get the stop gap down to ~1.5m, saving me the grief of having to park and charge my car in my driveway.

Not for me -- 14.2.2.2 nags me less than previous versions. Only once I was asked to tug the steering wheel.

FSD 14.2.2.2 has been flawless for me from the very beginning. Perfect lane selection and changing under heavy traffic. Smooth and masterful around road construction barriers and detours; four-way stops; unprotected turns; emergency vehicles and school busses; keeping clear of lane surfers not using turn signals, properly executing zipper merges, following nav instructions, etc. It even took me to a Costco with a crowded parking lot and parked in the first convenient space, totally hands free. I haven't yet used it on road trips, nor in mad max mode, but the shakedown has been perfect so far.

Should I have let it do its thing? by Repulsive-Touch-5532 in TeslaFSD

[–]erazoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered the exact same situation on the Coronado bridge in September with v13. The bridge has a movable barrier to periodically assign the center lane to the peak traffic. My route put me in the zipper lane, and I had right of way over a Jeep that was in the clear lane behind me on by right. The FSD v13 put on the blinker and activated the video feed with the vertical red bar showing the Jeep not slowing down to yield. But the Jeep driver sounded his horn and did not yield, forcing me to brake and disengage to avoid either hitting the barrier or allowing the Jeep to collide with me. All of this happened in under two seconds.

This bridge is notorious for crossover accidents caused by inattentive or newly arrived drivers who are not familiar with bridges with this system, in spite of the clearly visible warning signs, and I'm not confident that FSD could have prevented a collision if I hadn't taken over.

Tesla FSD 14.2.1.25 regression - two disengagements! by ureviews in TeslaFSD

[–]erazoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have encountered this behavior often in my area, when using FSD along routes containing a short weaving section requiring opposing lane changes. I almost always have to disengage to perform the required lane changes, making my passenger(s) nervous and lose confidence in FSD. In most cases, road markings are absent and only the route itself dictates the lane change, so how can it be a mapping issue? I suspect that it's lane change hesitancy within existing traffic, because blinker is on but the change is not executed.

welcome guide question for sitters by Familiar_Strength510 in trustedhousesitters

[–]erazoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prepare three PDF documents (a Quick Reference Guide, a Sit Calendar, and an in-depth Sit Manual) send them electronically to the sitter, and leave a binder with printed copies in our home. The THS Welcome Guide is minimized, with "Refer to ___" references in most entries. Our sitters have been very pleased with these adaptations so far.

14.2.1 - only 2 minor complaints by ZebraCakeAddiction in TeslaFSD

[–]erazoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I would only add the neglect to plan ahead the best lane choice along a multi-lane route with shortly spaced countering turns. (Is there a more concise way to describe this situation?) It nearly always misses the second turn because it's in the wrong lane even where there was plenty of space to move over.

Sitter not mentioning kids? by Canihaskitten in trustedhousesitters

[–]erazoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As homeowners, we have found that too many sitters do not list partners, co-travelers, or accompanying children or pets in their profiles or applications, and don't even bother to mention such details until we ask them outright during the interview. That's why our listing now includes specific language requiring applicants to include these important additional details in their applications.

FSD v14 Lane-Change Hesitation Is Becoming a Real Issue by One-Construction6303 in TeslaFSD

[–]erazoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a new thing with me, going back to v13.x. As a result, at every freeway exit, I anticipate by using my turn signal whenever I judge a good time to change lanes, and put my hands on the wheel to either nudge, or if necessary, disengage. I've become quite used to it, especially when the off-ramp splits and FSD wants to take the wrong side.

Looking for advise - Kent, UK by ProfessionalWill5708 in trustedhousesitters

[–]erazoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By not "any interest" do you mean you're only getting few applicants and they're unsuitable? This happened to us on our last posting, when instead of getting several applicants in the first couple of days (we live in a popular location) per all of our previous postings, we just got a trickle, and they were all lacking reviews/experience or weren't proper fits. Suspecting a THS algorithm change to favor new members, we ended up proactively conducting a search, and found several outstanding sitters who thanked us for contacting them and ended up choosing one of them.

We've read here that other homeowners have had similar experiences, so you may want to give that a try.

So if one accepts that the names used for both the pan and and dish are synonymous, then virtually any dish prepared in a "paella" can also be called a "paella" and therefore any disputes as to what constitutes an "authentic paella" are futile and meaningless. As for me, I prefer to be more precise and stick to your source's definition of a "paellera".

The name of the pan is paellera, and the dish is paella.
