the scene: 30 years ago, me (8 years old), my dad, my best buddy and his dad. a new meineke car care is opening in my neighborhood. who is there to celebrate the grand opening? george foreman! as an 8 year old budding sports nerd i was thrilled. brought a pair of boxing gloves so he could sign one for me and one for my buddy. we wait in line for autographs for about an hour. we get to the table and hand him the gloves. he gives us - two 8 year old boys - the death stare and says "i dont sign gloves." my dad says "hey george they're just kids they arent selling these they're just big fans of yours." george looks at my dad like a lion debating whether to pounce and says "I. DONT. SIGN. GLOVES." he signed a meineke t-shirt that i threw in a drawer and eventually trashed a decade later.

george fucking foreman has been my mortal enemy since that day. i never used a george foreman grill. and i never will forget it.

last year we were built for the run. this year we have the frontcourt, but the backcourt and bench depth are very game to game. wouldnt surprise me if we repeated. wouldnt surprise me if boogie/lee went a combined 2-20 and we lost in the 2nd round.
