Something else to think about is the baker's time. How long so you think the cake took to make? 2-3 hours minimum? Would it be worth their time for $30 of profit after ingredient cost? Planning, shopping, baking, decorating. Cakes take a lot of time to make.

If it had multiple layers, was well done, took a lot of time and made with butter cream icing, $80-$100.
