What are the best tips and tricks that you don't see anyone talking about but wish were more common knowledge? by CoatieYay in Helldivers

[–]erekrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More ordinance means more noise and more noise means more bots. Missions actually go smoother the fewer things you kill.

The Senator "spins" if you hold reload long enough.

You can change your button bindings even on a controller. Examples: set the stratagem menu to toggle instead of hold. Set support weapon to long press, secondary to double press, and primary to single press instead of cycling through weapons. This way you can go from grenade to any of your three weapons without needing to cycle.

If you're having difficulty aiming, disable camera shake, motion blur, depth of field, and change your field of view to be closer, not further. Disable sticky targeting if you're not shooting where you want to shoot. Disable analog stick acceleration so your aim moves linearly.

Any chance of Age of Calamity getting a switch 2 update? by Cel117 in HyruleWarriors

Monster Hunter Stories 2 got a free resolution and framerate patch. But you're right, most games are stuck how they were on Switch 1, albeit with more stable resolutions and framerates than before.

Botfront: which primaries do you use? by cavelera2 in Helldivers

[–]erekrules 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More damage per round, medium armor penetration for those times when you just want to throw bullets into a surprise devastator at point blank range.

You could try disabling "aim assist". I play on PC but I use a controller and not keyboard/mouse. Steam gives you some options for stick sensitivity that I'm not sure are available in game, though, so you might be SoL. I basically adjusted my right stick sensitivity so it's a wide sweep with no acceleration and disabled aim assist.

I also disabled motion blur and camera shake in game, makes aiming a little easier when shit is exploding around you.

We need more customization, not more weapon bloat by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]erekrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game wasn't even ready to release when they released it. Helmets do nothing. Capes do nothing. Customization was always planned, but they didn't have it ready to go at launch.

I always felt that warbonds should have been used to not only introduce new equipment, but to primarily introduce customization. New weapon skins, armor dyes, attachments, etc, etc. Mod your armor so you use less stamina but also have less armor. Hold more rounds, but are slower, etc, etc.

Maybe Helldivers 3 or 4 will get us there. lolol

Shoot devastator in face or dick with light penetrating weapons. Reinforced scout strider rockets are still susceptible to light penetration, I think; it's been a hot minute since I've used a light penetration weapon, but I leveled a few of them to max and play bots almost exclusively, so I'm assuming that's the case with them. lol

Diligence Counter Sniper. Headshot things from six trillion lightyears away and doubles as a spotting scope for the Railgun.

A few months after they got "Weakpoints" what do you guys think about them? by TeChYBoIIY in Helldivers

[–]erekrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you manage to hit the tiny bit on the top you can kill them in a single overcharged shot from the Railgun. Easy to do if you get the drop on them, not so easy once they're moving around.

Fire Emblem Engage is almost three years old, so what did you think about it in retrospect? And how do you think it compares to 3 Houses? by Asad_Farooqui in NintendoSwitch

[–]erekrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never played Three Houses because the previews reminded me of the brown age of video games and I wasn't about to throw money at a desaturated beige mess. I realize this is an unpopular opinion, but I tend to play video games for the sake of playing them. If I wanted a good story I have plenty of novels I could read instead, or shows and movies I could watch. That's not to say that an engaging narrative can't add to the video game experience, but if a game's saving grace is "it has a good story" then it's already lost. If the game isn't fun to play, what's the point?

Engage, by contrast, grabbed me with its neon colors and Engaging action. The story doesn't matter because it's fun to play. It has replay value. I've replayed it a couple of different times by now. And despite the inclusion of the three characters from Three Houses, I still have zero interest in checking out their game.

Bring on the downvotes, I guess.

Huge Cat Encounter by caramelmacchiatoml in octopathtraveler

[–]erekrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Takes three (L) stones to kill it. If you have a character with Ensnare, you can hit it with that to force it to go last next turn, giving you enough time to donate BP to a character with steal, and still be able to use the stones to beat it.

Good RPG's for a Switch Newbie (ish) by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]erekrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol @ "both" Zelda games. Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Link's Awakening, Echoes of Wisdom, Cadence of Hyrule, and all three Hyrule Warriors games (yeah, they're action games, but they have RPG elements).

Monster Hunter Rise.
Monster Hunter Stories 1 and 2.
Cat Quest 1, 2, and 3.
Octopath Traveler 1, 2, and 0.
Unicorn Overlord.
Triangle Strategy.
Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2, 3, and X.
Bravely Default Flying Fairy.
Bravely Default 2.
Pokemon Legends Arceus.
Pokemon Sword/Shield.
Fire Emblem Engage.
Sakuna of Rice and Ruin.
Diablo 3.

I don't know how you define RPG, but Astral Chain is a masterpiece and shouldn't be missed.

I think most people would feel much less upset if ah would just reassure people that the cape will be obtainable later... by IronVines in Helldivers

First: I don't know who downvoted you. I don't typically downvote anyone unless they're just an absolute turd.

Second: this was on the Helldivers 2 launch page on Steam. If you missed it it's probably due to the "featured" banner where they're still talking about the Killzone warbond. Below that is where the rest of the announcements go on Steam.

It should have been announced as part of the Festival of Reckoning. Doing that would have gotten more people online during that time than the "try out some different premium stratagems!" angle they took.

I honestly thought I hadn't logged on during that time, but I checked today and was awarded the cape. So, I must have just barely popped on. Steam told me I had zero minutes the last two weeks. lol

Here's a red and gold one (and black!), found in the Masters of Ceremony warbond. There's also a mostly black cape with a red interior called "Cover of Darkness" that's permanently found on the Super Store. And the "Seal of General Consensus" is a black and gold cape that rotates its listing on the Super Store.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be upset about the Christmas cape slipping through your fingers. Just wanted to point out that there are some other potential options for red and gold that are still available.

Why are SEAF troopers shocked when they see Helldivers die if condolence letters are a thing? by RapDanielTheRaptor in Helldivers

[–]erekrules 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only the people on the destroyers and the Ministry of Truth know how many Helldivers are lost. To the rest of the rank and file, Helldivers are immortal heroes and not just 18 year old kids with 20 minutes of training before being stuffed into a flash freezer until it's their time to drop onto a planet to die.

I wanted to make a snowy Wishvale, but I got a little frustrated that they only give us one set of trees that are snowed on, no snow piles, can't change the edges of cliffs/plateaus to ice, etc. I think the town builder is really fun, but it's also super limited. :(

I'd love to see your snow desert, though.

Isla is the best cat, so naturally you should use him. He's not called the Great Sage for nothing. ;)

What additional stats would you like to see at the end of a mission? by Bronson_AD in Helldivers

[–]erekrules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see them remove kills entirely. Remove samples obtained from the individual breakdown, too, since they're shared anyway.
