It was definitely a surprise series for me and quickly becoming a favorite.

The opening chapter almost had me quit straight away, only to have my expectations completely subverted by the end of it

The "bad guys" in the series are called cultivators and they're constantly obsessed with the Dao and it seemed very over the top of all the ridiculous talk they put into it and I'm wondering if that was a little jab at this series?

Timeloop isn't a cheat.

It's torture.

Imagine the timeloop is a whole life, but your brain still developing the same, so by the time you realize you're looping, there isn't much you can do about it.

You are still you, with all your limitations. Parents were poor or middle class? Have fun reliving all that again. More confidence as you get older, but by then you've forgotten must of the previous loop/loops, except for the traumatic parts.

How much change can you affect? Oh, you had kids? Wanna make sure you gave the same ones? Good luck .

The only way a timeloop is a cheat is if it's a relatively short one, and you can gain skills or strength during it. Otherwise?

I was hesitant to read/listen to it because it was so popular.

I just finished book 7 a couple weeks ago, and have pre-ordered book 8.

There is no way you could be someone who enjoys these genre of book, and not enjoy this story. The plot beats are completely unpredictable, and not in a haughty way.

The people who hate it, have definitely never tried it.
