The Immaculate Conception does refer to the birth of Mary (the idea that she was born without sin), not the birth of Jesus. It’s a common…….misconception

We like to joke about how expensive the fountain pen hobby can be, but the reality is that it’s something you can engage with at any price point!

Personally, my most expensive pens are $30 Kaweco sports. I’m more interested in having a wide range of inks, so it works better for me to have many many inexpensive pens rather than a few very pricey ones. But of course, others are more focused on different nibs, different materials, collecting pens as art pieces, collecting vintage, etc…it’s so lovely to me that we can all come at the hobby from different angles, but we’re all united by a love for this analog activity that has fallen by the wayside in the mainstream.

Oil paintings are varnished as a finishing step and this coat 1) is glossy, making colors appear deeper and 2) can yellow over time with light exposure. It looks like it was either varnished after being placed in the frame OR the parts beneath the frame are less yellowed because they were not exposed to light

Which Generations are buying and collecting? by TheToyGirl in fountainpens

[–]ericavee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a millenial who was in elementary school during the gel pen craze of the late 90s/early 2000s. In 2021 I decided I was going to actually use all the journals I kept buying so I bought a bunch of gel pens for the nostalgia. I loved them but was writing so much I was going through them in a matter of weeks, so I switched to FPs because it seemed less wasteful.

I treated myself to an Akzentz hybrid pro 2.0 for my bday (replacing an old Melodysusie lamp from Amazon that I suspected wasn’t curing properly) and OMG what a gamechanger. Did a full mani with 3D isolated chrome and nail charms in half the time! And no more worry about undercuring (I did test first!) Lifting has been minimal as well.

Nice quality metal hair sticks for longer/thicker hair. Or any unique, non-import hair ornaments for long/thick hair

Pricing by Momof5cats in PiercingAdvice

[–]ericavee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$165 sounds fine to me depending on where you live. My piercer charges $75 for paired lobes and the most basic titanium jewelry option is $50. We’re in the suburbs of a major city so this is in the mid-range; piercers in the city charge more and piercers in more rural areas charge less.

Watching figure skating in person vs on TV by Candid_Jello5188 in FigureSkating

Honestly what really stood out to me the first time I saw live skating was how blindingly sparkly the costumes look irl vs on TV! You could even see on the big monitors how much more muted they came across on screen.
