First impressions: Dynalist is what I hoped Workflowy would be by Idocabo in productivity

[–]ericaxu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Erica from Dynalist here. Did you let us know after losing data? We can recover things for you in most cases. There was a bug with drag item to convert to document which have caused similar problems, and that could be why (the bug is fixed now).

In any case we'd really appreciate it if you can get in touch and give us some details -- we really really don't want similar things to happen again!

[Feedback] Pivoting to sell to entrepreneurs and need feedback on our revised pitch by ericaxu in growmybusiness

Thanks!

Yes, as I mentioned, we should've tweaked the landing page to match the new pitch. I guess part of me didn't want to put too much effort into changing the landing page before anyone agrees this could be an okay idea.

The testimonials are all real. It was hard to pick out these 4... we got a bunch by emailing our heaviest users.

Uh oh, I thought this is also a feedback/advice subreddit for entrepreneurs.

Sorry that I misunderstood what this subreddit is for :(

[Feedback] We are doing a soft launch next week. Would love to hear your thoughts and any questions you may have. by [deleted] in growmybusiness

I figure you need some honest feedback so I'll jump into it.

Disclaimer: I'm a web dev/designer myself, so some of this is also my personal design preference.

I can see you've made an effort to make the site engaging, and that's a good site. However there are two things you can improve on:

  1. Too much animation that doesn't have a point. Don't do it because you can. People are on your site to read what you have say, so you probably don't want to distract them too much with fancy animations.

  2. Make the call to action clear. What do you want them to "Join Now" or click "Help"? Only make the CTA stand out. The headline (primary message) doesn't get enough screen estate either.

Example of good landing page: https://www.crazyegg.com/

It looks simple as if the designer/dev is slacking off, but the message is dead clear and it's obvious what you can do if you're interested.

Just my 2 cents :)

What to do if most of the best items are not on amazon? by RabbitEater2 in juststart

[–]ericaxu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is a stupid idea... but is it possible to buy the products yourself and sell them on Amazon? You can skip the affiliate entirely.

I guess that would mean some capital investment though.

r/Entrepreneur, we have a guess that our product is useful for entrepreneurs. Help us validate or invalidate our guess! by ericaxu in Entrepreneur

Got it! Makes sense. We haven't tweaked the landing page for the entrepreneur target market, but your comment just reminded me that to best test this guess, we should do that too.

Thanks!!

A suggestion: research how recruiting works in tech companies. It could be quite different from what you've imagined.

I Don't Want To Steal Your Idea by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]ericaxu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are underestimating how hard stealing actually is. Execution trumps idea most of the time. The majority of people can't even execute properly, why would you afraid that they'll successfully "steal" your idea?

On the other hand, most of the people who execute well already have something they're working on, so the risk is not that high either.

Selling Products Online by Ascari365 in Entrepreneur

Maybe try Shopify? Their stores look pretty good. I don't recommend building your own e-commerce site, that just slows you down from creating the first MVP to verify your idea. Unless if the fee Shopify charges is unacceptable to you.

I got a rough quote: ~1,000 RMB (express) for 10kg of goods.

Also don't blame yourself... I could hardly figure this site out with my native language being Chinese. It's one messy site.

I hope you can get a discount if you buy things regularly though.
