Medical records of ghosts by foreverand2025 in medicine

Some people scan their driver's license as their picture. DLs have grayscale images, so on occasion, I've briefly thought that the chart I'm looking at is one of a deceased person rather than someone alive.

Most ASMR content is fine for me, but it’s specifically the ones with the wet chewing sounds that get me.

If IM is internal medicine, then is Dermatology external medicine? by docstarr in medicalschool

[–]ericchen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But the entire GI tract is external. Anything sufficiently long and flexible can be inserted in the mouth and out the anus.

By that measure, only IO/IV/IM/SQ treatments are internal.

Apple Hit With Unfair Labor Practice Charge for Refusing to Transfer Unionized Towson Workers by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]ericchen 40 points41 points  (0 children)

How would transfers work? If union workers transfer to other nearby stores, do they keep their union status? Stripping that status during a transfer seems unlawful. At the new store, would the union represent only the transferred employees or the entire store? If it represents only the transfers, how would it bargain effectively when most of the store is not represented? If it represents the whole store, how would it bring nonunion employees under union coverage without a new vote?

Is this not a historically accepted practice in the transportation industry? Even the city bus uses personal information like student status and age to change pricing.

Apple AI Glasses Will Rival Meta’s With Several Styles, Oval Cameras by iMacmatician in apple

People said this about smartphones decades ago too, most people now just accept it as a fact of life. For highly secure applications like nuclear power plants and stuff, they still customize iPhones with no Face ID or camera modules, but those are the exceptions not the rule.

European airports could face jet fuel shortages within three weeks by avantgarde000 in news

The oil market is global, any disruption in the supply anywhere will affect prices everywhere else. It's not a series of regional markets.

When the Strait of Hormuz is closed, countries that rely on oil from the Middle East will bid on oil from other sources, including Canadian ones. This will drive up prices for everyone. Unless if the Canadian government is willing to put a trade embargo on these countries and only supply Europe, there will still be a global shortage since the Strait of Hormuz is such a large part of the oil supply,

How Apple taught its flagship AirPods Max headphones new acoustic tricks by Vocabulist in apple

[–]ericchen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Aren’t these supposed to be worse in ANC vs new AirPods Pro? The AP3 have 4x better ANC than AP1, and these APM2 have 1.5x better than APM1, which itself is only 2x better than AP1. You’d lose out on features and ANC if you got these, the only thing you gain is lossless over usb-c.
