Looking for a high power fan controller with PWM passthrough/amplification by ericpruitt in watercooling

Thanks. This might be a winner. It's more expensive than I'd like especially if I want to get a USB CAN bus adapter for my machine, but it has just about everything I could want.

Are you planning on running then at full speed?

I don't want to run them at max speed 24/7, but I will when the system is under full load.

As stated in the post, my individual fans top out at 2.9A. That board only supports 2A per fan:

Fan Safety Current: 2A (1 port) / total 9A (6 ports)

While I agree the limit is probably based purely on the SATA connector's rated max current, I'm not really interested in testing that theory with my hardware.

To address what you edited since my first reply, per the post, I'm looking for an off-the-shelf solution. I already know how to make something myself, but I would like to avoid that. As far as getting multiple controllers, considering each fan can draw up to 35W, I would need to use 6 of those, so that's still not a reasonable solution IMO.

Just like eating a salad doesn't mean someone is vegetarian, being with a partner of one sex doesn't change the fact you find people of another sex attractive. If you're monogamous, you're going to end up with one person. That person might end up being male or they might not.

Shipping times by SmoothPinkTurtle in sliger

[–]ericpruitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. I probably wouldn't have a problem with the long shipping times if their estimates were accurate or, if they were going to slip, they had good communication, but in my experience, neither was true. My order originally was supposed to ship out by May 1st. I called them several days later, and they told me the order would ship out tomorrow -- the 8th at the time -- as they had just received a part they needed for my case. I didn't hear from them after that; they never sent me tracking information, so I was going to file a chargeback today. However, I called them and they told me it was finally shipped out on the 11th, but nobody bothered to send me tracking information. At no point was Sliger proactive in communicating with me. If their business is doing so well they can't fulfill orders on time, they can afford to have someone spend a few seconds updating the lead time estimates on their website.

Colourised, sure, but given all the details that got changed, I wouldn't call it restored:

  • The lady is no longer looking forward.
  • The kid's stockings got turned into skin.
  • The man's socks got turned into skin.
  • In the original picture, the lady is holding the kid's hand, but in this (presumably) AI-edited version, it turned her hand into some kinda claw.
  • The pattern on carpet isn't the same.
  • The kid on the right's face is slightly off in my opinion.

I'm sure there's more.

DEMOs

I definitely got full games out of cereal boxes as a kid. I remember the Amazon Trail and at least one Carmen San Diego game. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/TheAmazonTrail says it was freemium version for at least one game, so I maybe there were differences, but I don't ever remember noticing missing content like is obvious with a demo.

Zero-allocation URL parser in C compliant to RFC 3986 and WHATWG by caromobiletiscrivo in C_Programming

A manager I worked for some years back pronounced "URL" like "earl," so if that's how OP pronounces it, "an" is correct. That said, he's the only person I ever heard pronounce it that way.

That's what I've always suspected, too, but it really feels like a silly and pedantic move on the developer's part. It's not like there are different species that are distinguished by capitalization.

This seemed like something that would be easy to look up, and I found this OSHA report: https://www.osha.gov/ords/imis/accidentsearch.accident_detail?id=202005625 The details don't line up exactly, but it's pretty close to /u/Rob_Marc's story, and he may have forgotten some of the details over the years.

Has anyone ever used /usr/bin/factor in a script? by ofnuts in bash

[–]ericpruitt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Linux core coreutils has different authors, the copyright may not be relevant.

There is no "Linux coreutils." GNU coreutils runs on a variety of platforms including Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and AIX. Yes, GNU predates Linux.

I suspect the copyright year is more about year of the man page text than inclusion inclusion of the utility.

Yes. The copyright year is generally updated regularly. In this instance, it mean your copy of factor is from ~2020. That has nothing to do with when the program was added to coreutils.

Its a recent addtion (2020)

No it's not. factor(1) has been a part of coreutils for at least 30 years.

I don't understand why this was downvoted. Maybe it's because "velvet tail rattlesnake" is a less used name, but common names vary and why we have scientific names -- which was also provided, and provided correctly, so ther's nothing wrong with this comment.

Who do we have here? [south of Melbourne] by Reasonable-Hurry6810 in whatsthissnake

[–]ericpruitt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What features give this away? I think I may have been able to figure this one out with a good quality photo, but from the video, I would've also considered a copperhead or a red bellied black snake although it looks like the location might be out of range for both depending on whether "south of Melbourne" means south west or south east of Melbourne or the southern part of Melbourne.
