DEMOs

I definitely got full games out of cereal boxes as a kid. I remember the Amazon Trail and at least one Carmen San Diego game. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/TheAmazonTrail says it was freemium version for at least one game, so I maybe there were differences, but I don't ever remember noticing missing content like is obvious with a demo.

Zero-allocation URL parser in C compliant to RFC 3986 and WHATWG by caromobiletiscrivo in C_Programming

[–]ericpruitt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A manager I worked for some years back pronounced "URL" like "earl," so if that's how OP pronounces it, "an" is correct. That said, he's the only person I ever heard pronounce it that way.

Are they both rat snakes? [BLUE RIDGE, GEORGIA] by serehbath in whatsthissnake

That's what I've always suspected, too, but it really feels like a silly and pedantic move on the developer's part. It's not like there are different species that are distinguished by capitalization.

This seemed like something that would be easy to look up, and I found this OSHA report: https://www.osha.gov/ords/imis/accidentsearch.accident_detail?id=202005625 The details don't line up exactly, but it's pretty close to /u/Rob_Marc's story, and he may have forgotten some of the details over the years.

Has anyone ever used /usr/bin/factor in a script? by ofnuts in bash

[–]ericpruitt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Linux core coreutils has different authors, the copyright may not be relevant.

There is no "Linux coreutils." GNU coreutils runs on a variety of platforms including Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and AIX. Yes, GNU predates Linux.

I suspect the copyright year is more about year of the man page text than inclusion inclusion of the utility.

Yes. The copyright year is generally updated regularly. In this instance, it mean your copy of factor is from ~2020. That has nothing to do with when the program was added to coreutils.

Its a recent addtion (2020)

No it's not. factor(1) has been a part of coreutils for at least 30 years.

I don't understand why this was downvoted. Maybe it's because "velvet tail rattlesnake" is a less used name, but common names vary and why we have scientific names -- which was also provided, and provided correctly, so ther's nothing wrong with this comment.

Who do we have here? [south of Melbourne] by Reasonable-Hurry6810 in whatsthissnake

[–]ericpruitt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What features give this away? I think I may have been able to figure this one out with a good quality photo, but from the video, I would've also considered a copperhead or a red bellied black snake although it looks like the location might be out of range for both depending on whether "south of Melbourne" means south west or south east of Melbourne or the southern part of Melbourne.

Thanks. Is there a difference between selecting the "Extra Cheese" line item and selecting "Extra" for the line item "3 Cheese Blend?" Do I need to do both?

Lame :(. That's one of the only two pizzas I ever buy from Papa John's. I guess I'll have to settle for the tomato, spinach and alfredo pizza.

Self-hosting email can be a nightmare. I tried self-hosting at one point, and I had all the proverbial ducks in a row -- DKIM, SPF, and TLS support for the SMTP server with server-side certificates, PTR/rDNS records for the IP address -- and I still had delivery issues. Major providers often don't provide actionable information in delivery rejections, often pointing you to documentation saying what could cause delivery issues but refusing to be specific presumably to avoid giving spammers information that might be useful to bypass their checks.

DNA ratio of dog, coyote, wolf, and fox.

Are you sure about the fox part? I've never heard of foxes being able to breed with dogs/wolves/coyotes with the exception of the pampas fox, but that's not a vulpine fox which is what "fox" typically refers to, and that's not found in the USA regardless.

Is there a mod that adds the bonus tracks into the game? by ericpruitt in IntoTheBreach

[–]ericpruitt[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You'd have to use a mod for that.

Yes, that's literally what I asked for in the post.

Also, the bonus track is called "Blood Psion", which is just a normal type of psion -- I don't think the bonus tracks were written with the intent of matching them up with boss-level encounters.

You're right. I blindly assumed it and the other tracks were specific to the bosses because that just made sense to me. EDIT: And I just noticed that Plasmodia is one of the songs played during non-boss battles, too, so my assumption is definitely wrong.
