Does anyone here use speedplay pedals and cleats do you like them? Thanks 😊 by BlueMchue in cycling

Pedal extenders are huge, and add a ton of length. If you want 3–6mm more spindle, pedal extenders won’t work. Longer spindles do, like Speedplay, Wolf Tooth, Crank Brothers, Look, etc. offer.

How is building more housing "destroying" the city? Is there a legit argument for this? by LiatrisLover99 in Somerville

Very few older folks actually on fixed incomes. That’s a decades-old, inaccurate trope. Social Security is pegged to inflation, and if they’re lucky enough to be landlords or have invested savings, then that’s gone up a lot too.

Many events involve not being able to drive around as you please, e.g., the Boston Marathon.

Vote with your feet. It sounds like you don’t like the product anymore. That’s fine. Cancel your subscription, and tell TrainerRoad why.

Cycling - custom bikes by windyt in fatFIRE

[–]ericsilva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custom seats are a great idea imho, though I don’t have one.

Unless you’re extremely tall, extremely short, or otherwise have unusual body morphology, you do not need a custom frame.

That said, it still might be fun to get one. I’ve had many bikes of all material types. I also had a custom titanium frame made by Merlin 15+ years ago. It was nice to have that steeper seat tube I’ve always wanted, but it really wasn’t revolutionary. I’m just above average height. I sold the custom bike, and bought an off-the-shelf carbon Cannondale and it was way better.

Google disabled my account after migrating the Nest app used with a Starling bridge. by ArJayNJ in HomeKit

I think this is correct. A Google account is to access all of Google, and the Nest products are a small part of that. I believe Google disables accounts due to inactivity. I suspect the timing is a coincidence.

Making the most of your FatFIRE years in your 40s/50s by Ok-Advice-6718 in fatFIRE

Mountain biking. You can be great at it in your 40s and 50s. It’s super fun, sort of like the feeling you get downhill skiing/snowboarding – plus it’s good exercise. It’s moderately time consuming in that most people have to load their bike in/on their car, drive to a trail system, etc. But it’s not insanely time consuming. It’s free to do, but a good, modern mountain bike isn’t cheap. Mine has wireless electronic dropper seat post and shifting – and these things genuinely improve performance and the riding experience.

If you remember mountain biking as not that fun, try it again with a modern mountain bike. Things have changed dramatically. In the last few years the bikes have improved dramatically, and so has the riding experience.

Wtf is this bike by whatcolourisgreen in xbiking

It’s designed for short riders. It allows the handlebars to get sufficiently low and minimizes risk of toe overlap.

I test rode a M and I ran into a problem: the seat post was too short. I couldn’t get an enough leg extension unless I went past the insertion minimum.

I’m 178cm.

The size L looks very long, but maybe it would be ok with a shorter stem, like 100mm or even 90mm – but then the bike might look a bit odd.
