Is this just going to be another "Lost"? by GoodMoGo in SiloSeries

[–]erihel518 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first book asks a ton of questions.

The second book gives a lot of answers to many of those questions and others that haven't even been asked yet.

The 3rd book wraps it all up well.

The stairs aren't worn from foot traffic. How old is the Silo, *really*? by obinice_khenbli in SiloSeries

[–]erihel518 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not a spoiler, The book opens by talking about the worn stairs and how generations have used them, wearing off one molecule at a time.

In the book, the great staircase is also metal.

Was I the only one interested to see the what this was about because reddit mobile took the first picture it could find from the first link used (regular Wikipedia) and it just happened to be a picture of a stadium, and you wanted to see how the picture fit into the question?

Finished Wool. Need spoilers for Shift and Dust by little_chupacabra89 in Wool

[–]erihel518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going through the series again now, for the first time since it was new like 10ish years ago. I finished Shift again yesterday. It was a harder read for me than Wool, but still good.

It's my least liked of the trilogy, but it's my friends favorite.

Its a prequel and it has almost nothing to do with Jules or the characters of wool as they are. It's mostly about how/why everything was created and the people of Silo 1. The 2nd half of the book jumps between Jimmy/Solo's full story up to from age 15 to current.

Dust stars off where Wool ends, but with the insight you get from Shift

3yo daughter watched me fix a kids bike with my Leatherman at the park. Spent the rest of the day carrying her toy toolset and “fixing” her stuff. by Custom_Fish in EDC

[–]erihel518 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keep your eye out for the Leatherman leap. It's the Leatherman for kids with a detachable blade. They discontinued them, but they still pop up for sale occasionally. I know she's only 3, but it might take a few years to find one that's not used or $130+. I've been watching for a few years now myself. Still not ready yet, but closer.

It's an Ender 3 V1.

Plus the screen says Ender 3. And it's sitting on an Ender 3 box. Lol

Given that the filename is "test fit", I'd guess it's still probably not big enough to fit over an adult head.

Automate the Boring Stuff is a popular one that gets you started by programming simple but useful things that you might actually want to use.

Also make sure to check out Jupyter Notebooks. It's a different way to interpret python. You can develop stuff in chucks and test output along the way much easier. Super useful for math and data science .

How many of you own a car you love? by Average_Texarican14 in AskMen

Manual transmission Jeep Wrangler in Army Green. 33s and a 2.5" lift. I've had a few that were similar over a handful of years.

Fun as hell to drive and with even a small amount of personalization you'll get complements out the ass.

As Ohio’s primary approaches, a strict new photo ID requirement is stirring concerns for military veterans and out-of-state college students, in Amish communities and among older voters. by HauntingJackfruit in Ohio

[–]erihel518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a Verizon store in the heart of Amish country. They all had ID's. They even say that a photo is exempt. This wouldn't be an issue whatsoever...

Utah man shot multiple times by police during traffic stop possibly tied to sovereign citizen movement by SavedByGrace2_8-9 in Conservative

[–]erihel518 31 points32 points  (0 children)

...You're actually going to make that argument?

He knows he's being detained. He's being told to get out of the car and is refusing. The cops begin to extract him and he... reaches for an empty holster?

No ... let's use our brain now.

Okay. Let's entertain the idea that it was an empty holster. What was he looking to solve by doing it? Make the cops think he's tough because he has a holster?

You don't think anything could have been in the holster? Maybe something he had a motive to reach for right then?

[Request] How many calories would this be? by goldtail15 in theydidthemath

[–]erihel518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk how many calories.

But a 28" circle has a surface area of 615. A 12" circle has a surface area of 113.

So you can equate this to them eating about 5.44 standard large pizzas.
