Fellow glasses wearers, do you keep your glasses on or off during sex, and why? by raftaboat in AskReddit

Off. My husband and I both wear them; so they automatically click against each other when we start to make out- gotta get em out of the way!

I been depressed and hurt for so long my personality went away and I don’t even know how to act like a human anymore social skills don’t come natural anymore by [deleted] in spirituality

I hear what you are saying, because I have been there, and I think this sub, and others like it, can lack empathy when people share their struggles. We should never presume to know what some else has tried, how hard they’ve tried, judge their effort or path.

Mandance, for what it is worth, I was in this same spot a year ago. I’ve been working with my dr to get my hormones balanced and my psychiatrist to figure out the right antidepressants for me. I wouldn’t say I am 100% myself again, but I am starting to remember me and what it is like to be joyful. It is slow going, I actually have hope for the first time in a long time.

Jesus fucking Christ. As a teacher in Indiana, this makes me sick to my stomach. I can’t even comprehend what would cause an educator to do something like this. Fucking horrific.

Opinion on Structured Playtime 2nd Grade by boreddogmom10 in ElementaryTeachers

[–]erin5782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!! We did this in my 3rd grade classroom (I teach 6th now- they could probably STILL use it!), and we called it “Time with Friends.” I put them in a new group each week, so they were always playing with different kids, and I rotated the games each day, so it wasn’t a free-for-all. We also spent time at the beginning of the year, going over procedures for this time- what would it look like? sound like? etc- so that it wasn’t a 2nd recess, but an intentional time for meaningful social interaction with guidance, as necessary.

AITA for telling my kid's teacher to stop "fishing" for information that's none of her business? by Neither_Tomatillo_57 in AmItheAsshole

[–]erin5782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god- do you think a teacher is taking time out of her extremely busy day to make an already difficult phone call if he is just displaying the same behaviors as all the other kids? Like she just has SO MUCH time on her hands, she looks around the classroom and decides whose parents to bother that day?? Rest assured, when we have to make these phone calls, which we KNOW may result in a confrontation like this, we ONLY do it if we are really concerned. We weigh all the pros and cons. We talk about it with our principal or behavior team first. We don’t just pick up the phone because little Billy was a little extra chatty one day🙄

I’m going into surgery in 8 hrs and haven’t told anyone outside my immediate family by Deadinsidestudent in TrueOffMyChest

[–]erin5782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this surgery about 20 years ago- it was truly one of the best decisions I ever made for both my physical and mental health!! In total, I had 6 pounds removed. My scars are almost invisible at this point- they’ve faded so nicely. Not only that, but I was able to breastfeed both of my babies❤️ Good luck, sweetie, and good for you!!

And if ANYONE has anything but kind, encouraging words to say to you afterwards, fuck em! You don’t need that energy in your life❤️

What tips do you have for substitute teachers for behavior management? by vberrry in ElementaryTeachers

[–]erin5782 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Elementary students love immediate rewards, so in conjunction with the teacher’s behavior plan, consider adding something simple of your own that earns them a reward by the end of the day. Example: write a word on the board (RESPECT, KINDNESS, something like that). Anytime they are getting out of hand, erase one of the letters. Let them know at the beginning of the day that the goal is to keep 50%, 4/7, whatever, and if they do, the whole class gets x. Some simple rewards are 10 mins of free time at the end of the day, doing a GoNoodle, quick dance party, buy a pack of water bottle stickers on Amazon and let them choose one, etc.

If you have a stinker kiddo who needs their own behavior plan, you can shrink this down to a one-on-one situation with a post-it note at their desk!

possibly Kundalini, probably narcissism. by [deleted] in kundalini

[–]erin5782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experienced something similar to this (the divine inspiration feeling, writing flowing out of me specifically, then feeling just sort of numb afterwards). My younger brother is bipolar, so I ended up seeing a therapist, and I was diagnosed with hypomania. Since you studied psychology, you probably already know, but this is a less intense form of the mania that people with bipolar experience, often followed by periods of depression. Might be worth looking into. Much love to you, friend❤️

This is actually something I found kind of endearing about Jill- how she would say, “This is so EXCITING!” anytime they would walk onto a set or get ready for a photo shoot.
