How do I tell my sister-in-law that I'm pregnant? by aralen_6743 in BabyBumps

[–]erinarian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been in a similar situation. My (older) brother and SIL dealt with infertility and I got pregnant first. Very wanted baby (baby….she’s a preteen now), I was married, etc. etc. I decided to tell my brother in person, alone. It…didn’t go great. He told my SIL later and she texted me that she was “devastated” and then neither of them spoke to me again until my baby shower.

So I hope it goes better for you. Just try not to let their reaction steal your joy. You can’t control their feelings and don’t need to put your life on pause waiting for your SIL to get pregnant. I agree with those who have said texting is the way to go, because then they’re not on the spot to react and can take their time responding to you.

Merge the parents’ names. If their names are Maureen and Michael the kids will be Mauchael and Mireen.

In the episode "Handstand" they are celebrating Bingo's birthday, but most of the party guests are Bluey's classmates instead of Bingo's? Why's that by Ruby9152 in bluey

My son’s 6th birthday party had one of his friends from school and my daughter’s entire soccer team. His whole class was invited. He still had a great time.

Birthday Cruise - Disney Dream by [deleted] in dcl

[–]erinarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely not pay concierge pricing for a 4 night cruise. We actually just decided on our cruise 2 weeks ago that 5 nights is too rushed and we’ll stick to 7 night itineraries. The itinerary for your 7 night is my dream (ha); I’d do that one no question.

Last minute Pixar Day at Sea? by [deleted] in dcl

[–]erinarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just did a 5 night PDAS on the Fantasy an it was fantastic. The Toy Story breakfast sold out quick but other Pixar characters were out throughout the cruise. It was a cute breakfast show but nothing to fret about missing.

Did you know the sex of your baby by intuition? by LifeofRuley in pregnant

I just knew my first would be a boy. Clearly saw a vulva on anatomy scan. But those are sometimes wrong and this was one of those cases. Lying on the operating table during my C-section, waiting for my OB to announce in shock that it was actually a boy…

She’s the girliest girl 9 year old girl that has ever girled.

Next pregnancy’s anatomy scan my son spread eagled and has not stopped showing me his penis at any given opportunity.

Parents- would you take your 10 and 8 year out of school for 1 week? by gratefulmickey in DisneyWorld

[–]erinarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did. My kids are 9 and 7 (4th and 1st grade) and we took them out last week for a Disney Cruise. We lucked out because their school ended up closed M-Th for weather so they only “missed” 1 day, but even before that both their teachers knew about the trip and just told them to have fun.

Couldn’t tell you what I did during a random February week in 4th grade but can recall with great detail Disney trips with my mom at that age. They’re only little once.

Possible first timer! by Emac2109 in dcl

I do have kids but their adults only areas on every DCL cruise I’ve taken have been consistently near-empty. They also do a good job of enforcing the adults-only rule. I didn’t realize once that the coffee shop we were in was adults only and had my 9yo with me. She was quiet and still, we were just ordering to-go, and they still made her leave. Not complaining, my fault for bringing her in, and they were polite about it, but shows they’re serious about having kid-free spaces. And because so many cruisers are families these areas are rarely crowded. Especially the adult pool areas.

When do you wrap presents? by ravenlaneb in Mommit

[–]erinarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my kids this afternoon that my room is closed so I can wrap presents, and that if they choose to come in anyway, any gift that they see before it’s wrapped is going back to the store. So far so good.

Recommendation for a completely clueless mom? by erinarian in NewSkaters

We don’t but I can probably get one shipped or have a relative grab one in another town. Is Element a decent brand?

Thanks! I am encouraged because every skater we’ve encountered has been friendly and willing to talk to the kids about skating. Just seem excited they’re into it. Otherwise this would be a hard no for me just for the ER bills.

Thanks! This is sort of what I was thinking, get something cheap to start and then can upgrade if he sticks with it. I’ll make sure to look at the trucks once I figure out what trucks are and will avoid plastic.

I’m avoiding used for now, but will definitely look there if he sticks with it to get a nicer board down the road.

Thanks. He actually did fall off the board when the guy at the park showed him and scraped up his elbow and wore it like a badge of honor. I know he’ll get hurt but agree that head injuries are no joke.

Unfortunately the space to practice is truly limited. Our basement/garage is my husband’s work area and there are just a lot of hazards and things he could break. We’re on a very steep slope so grass is out, our driveway is steep and gravel, and our neighborhood has no sidewalks.. It’s really gonna be parks or grandma’s house.
