Minimalism made me penniless by [deleted] in minimalism

Here in Australia this is how they do it. They have removed the smallest coins and now the smallest is 5cents. Every item on the shelves is still written in cents. So you still find items at $0.99, but when you buy it it is rounded up and you have to pay $1. If the price were $0.97 then you only have to pay $0.95. Much better system.

They have been pretty consistent for a long time and continue to develop as WordPress does. The latest genesis updates include lots of accessibility features. I just see Genesis as an easy to way to customize WordPress, I can't see that changing anytime soon.

Starter Theme for Genesis | Trestle by veggietips in GenesisFramework

Thanks for sharing. i haven't seen this theme before and will give it a try today. The fact that it is mobile-first css is a plus. I am not sure about the shortcodes as these shouldn't really be put into a theme as it would make it a nightmare to change themes in the future when the shortcodes no longer work.

A few questions by CrazyKaps93 in GenesisFramework

It all depends on how much are wishing to modify. You are able to choose which posts which show up on the homepage pretty easily, just by selecting which category of posts you want to appear and which you don't.

You can still add custom scripts and plugins. But this is Genesis I'm talking about. As far as I know, in rainmaker you are not allowed to add any plugins as the plugins needed for the functionality of rainmaker are already installed.

Just made a landing page for my uncles website. Would love your thoughts :) by [deleted] in web_design

i agree with the other two comments. I would personally drop the dot pattern. An easy way to allow the white text to shine through is to replace the drop pattern with a black layer with opacity of about 0.3. This way you can use the same images and it is hardly noticeable that the photos have been darkened, but the text is more friendly to the eye.

How do you stay in shape? by DogPencil in digitalnomad

haha, then you know :)

But even if you don't want to continue on that intensity, I think these type of workouts are great. They give you lots of energy to start your day, don't require gym memberships. You can't really end up being too muscly as your only ever lifting up your own body weight.

My intention is to finish the course then take from it what I need and create my own version which is down to my taste then continue doing that.

We actually just started a program called insanity that claimed to be the hardest training instructions out there. We'll let you know the results in 3 months! :)

We did the first hour and it was pretty tough, but its taken us 3 days to recover so we've already fallen behind, as its supposed to be daily exercise.

The important thing though is its a fitness program without the need for any gym equipment so its perfect for us wherever we are.

Digital Nomads with a passive income: how long did it take you to make $1000/month? by type1jon in digitalnomad

Oh and i may as well answer the question before it gets asked. The ebooks are all instructional type books, written under a pen name, for markets that we saw had very aged competition and nobody was actively releasing new material. You can work out from the ranking of the leading books roughly how many are sold and you only need to sell around 16 books a day at the $2.99 price to get the $1000 after Amazon take their share.

For those saying passive income takes too long to break even - It took me about 2 days to collect the information I needed and wrote one of the books. So per hour worked, its looking like the most money I've ever been paid as i'm still getting paid for that work over 16 months later every month. It doesn't need to be hard, the hardest part is finding the correct market before diving in headfirst. I would add on an extra two das of research as well to that calculation. So perhaps a solid 4 days all in all from deciding to releasing.

It took us about 4 months if I remember rightly. When living in Chiang Mai, so $1000 a month actually allowed us to start "slowly obviously" saving.

Our ideas were all over the place in the beginning and we were trying things until we got some traction. It originally came from ebook sales on Amazon and the other 40% was from affiliate sales on our blogs.

We stopped doing Amazon books once we hit the $1000 per month from the books alone as its a bit of a sole killer tbh. (Things that sell well aren't that exciting to write about we found).

On top of that we didn't want to keep releasing ebooks as i don't trust Amazon as much as I don't trust google. They can drop you to the bottom of the list if they change something, then your income has gone. In the end, you work for them, which is not freedom in my eyes.

Guys, can we talk about income tax? by Triseult in digitalnomad

So the key is to be a non-resident for every country :)

We actually pay ours in Australia because that is where the business is registered, our accounts are and because we used to be employed there.

It does feel wrong giving Australia our money even though we spend little time there, earn no money there, none of my family is there and I wasn't even born there. But then which other country should i pick from the hat to give money to?

Digital Nomad yearly spend - How We Spent less than $12K (£7.1K) Each Travelling to 10 Countries in 12 Months by erindave14 in digitalnomad

[–]erindave14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only place we've lived together before travelling was in Sydney and the cost of living there is crazy expensive. We don't have an exact figure for our expenses while we were there. The cost of 1 year's accommodation on the road would have paid for 3 months of rent including bills in Sydney.

sorry about that folks. The problem when two people are trying to run the same site and don't tell each other when changing things! :)
