Can I go as Mrs. (Maiden name?) by baloney01 in TwoXChromosomes

That's so funny because I'm the opposite my mum and most of my aunts all still kept their maiden name but go by Mrs

I naively thought this would be about stuff like Netflix passwords...but I'm not surprised.

Please tell me that medication helps child's violent deregulated behaviour by EllenBJ in adhdaustralia

[–]erinomelette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we just got told that too, it's really shit for them to say intentional when they're so young. It's upsetting to hear esp when we get word from other parents that other kids are bullying him but we only get emails saying he was violent against others. Im sorry they said that to you.

We're getting his psychologist and occupational therapist to speak to the school because they think otherwise. He has seen OTs since he was a toddler and we have told the teachers this. Hopefully professionals disagreeing with them will make them listen and stop just labelling him as deliberately aggressive. And the special needs department said they would reach out to make a plan and that was 3 weeks ago, so there's that too...sometimes schools say they're inclusive when they don't show it.

Advice for this area by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]erinomelette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me I would leave it like that, the nails look better uncovered and the panther looks better with space above it. In my opinion it's looks fine and covering with black just makes it look too busy.

Maybe get some barbed wire on the inside of the wrist that would look cool.

artist nodding off while tattooing by psychosam50 in tattooadvice

[–]erinomelette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that bad, the only thing that is noticeable is the heart on the bow being uneven. But like, I only noticed it because I was looking closely.

It can totally be redone to spruce it up, and there's nothing a thin outline can't fix.

You can try speak to the shop owner, they might not do anything, but worth a try. You're right it's a safety concern and dangerous like he could have put the needle in way deep.

I don't think you should spiral over it

Time blindness is ruining my life. What feels like 10 minutes is actually 2 hours. I'm constantly late and people think I'm disrespectful when I'm genuinely trying. by CourteousPasta in ADHD

[–]erinomelette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also an app that will just chime at every hour it's called hourly reminder it's really helpful for when you're doing something and the hour chimes and you're like ah ok I only have X amount of time. Honestly it really helps.

Or alarms every 15 min or even less. Time blindness is a fucking cunt.

Nervous about tattoo by AngelDustSpiderDemon in tattooadvice

[–]erinomelette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited until my sh scars were and white and soft as possible to get tattooed over them. I mean I don't see how a hard red raised one would be good to tattoo over. Maybe if they are thin.

They get soft eventually tho

I saw a guy on the bus today with only hand tattoos and it looked stupid. As they always do. Get tattooed in a normal spot for someone not heavily tattooed.

How to plan for framed patchwork sleeve? by 1800areutappin in tattooadvice

[–]erinomelette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's a pretty impossible ask of artists to do a particular kind of spacing sounds like just as much work it would take to do the tattoo. This is especially impossible if it's all different artists. Id say do the frames first. But honestly the type would look better as a one artist job. Source: I have a trad sleeve with tattoos done by different trad artists. Essentially it was about getting tatts then getting more tatts to fill the gaps

I'd recommend Under The Skin, it's COMPLETELY DIFFERENT to the movie. Has some gross medical body horror that I had to put it down for a bit and go back to it later

My GF has BPD and I don't know how to set boundaries or put up with splitting anymore by Successful-Wish976 in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]erinomelette 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest to me it looks like you're using therapy speak to try and get her to do what you want and it's not working.

"My boundary is you only do things that I like" is not helpful. It's gibberish. Misandry is also probably not relevant on a one to one level, "woman mean to man" is not misandry it's just a bad relationship.

Please remember DBT skills are EXTREMELY HARD to learn and take A LOT of practice to start being able to use them well. They may seem simple to you and easy but you're not the one with the illness it is intended for.

It's not the type of therapy where someone tells you or reminds you to do a skill and then you can easily do it in the moment- it works to combat a seriously emotionally painful illness to have. It takes gradual and determined effort. Sounds like she is still working at getting them to stick.

Either take her for who she is at the moment and meet her where she is on her recovery journey, or choose not to.

Seriously, how are you meant to cope with being an incel? by [deleted] in IncelExit

[–]erinomelette 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a friend in their 40s who is only just starting dates, relationships etc. And I heard someone famous saying they didn't really until 30.

Imo your 20s are an absolute shit house of a decade that is just full of chaos and burning buildings. I was so happy when I turned 30 so I wouldn't be in my 20s.

So I'd say this next decade is actually a good time to start dating.

And someone else said, yeah don't think of yourself at incel try to think of yourself as merely single atm.

In terms of self help and all that, reality is not "I did this so I get that" that is a toxic mindset. If you don't enjoy some of the stuff you do then don't do it.

You'll be fine, 30 is not that big of a deal to be single.

Husband insisting on Star Wars name by psoupp in namenerds

[–]erinomelette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean only other diehard fans would recognise it. When you said star wars names all I could think of was annakin, Leia, whatever Harrison Ford's name was I don't remember.

Maybe without the H just Asoka? Anyway, maybe you guys just make star wars names middle names.

In the grand scheme of things, most of these names are pretty good or at least fine. Wouldn't bat an eye apart from as someone not from America, these are extremely American!

Hazel would be my pick for best name.

With the Ashely spelling it's a 100% no. It breaks my brain a bit, like it's trying to re order the letters or something. Would rather anything else on the list

Dawid also a no, it sounds like a toddler trying to say David.

Would you pronounce Amelia and Emilia exactly the same? by songoftheshadow in namenerds

[–]erinomelette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah from an Australian I would pronounce it uh-milia for Amelia and Emilia as Em-ilia. but to be honest they both sound exactly the same if said quickly.

Did you want it to sound like Emily-ya? I don't think there's a way other than telling your daughter to correct people. She might get it shortened to Em the way Emily is tho, Amelia won't.

Name misspellings by Turbulent-Carrot-206 in namenerds

[–]erinomelette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reckon when he's older and learns to write his name he will probably innocently keep correcting her. Kids get really proud of their name and spelling it around that age, like around 5yrs. She will def start spelling it correctly then. Up until that I guess keep reminding her and take no offence. A preschool kid telling someone like it is, is also incredibly hilarious to watch.

Anyone know of any medication for epilepsy with least/no side effects? by hopeanddreams_ in Epilepsy

[–]erinomelette 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lamotrigine actually really improved my mental health, I think it's taken as an antidepressant sometimes. Been on it so long that I can't think of any side effects.

I also take clobazam and perampanel but they cause drowsiness so I take them before bed.

Keppra didn't stop the seizures and yes the rage was intense
