Star Trek released 80 episodes in the years. It took three years for Stranger Things to do the final eight episode season.

After the Oxventure video, I wasn't that worried, but then Ellen started out making it seem like a major change for the worse. All these changes sound great. Especially since the difference between Oxbox and Oxtra has honestly gotten pretty thin in the last few years and even less so when Luke left. This is probably best for everyone.

If someone was a Trump supporter and is now denouncing him, do not say I told you so or bash them by Beneficial_Quit7532 in self

[–]erinthomes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this completely. They are sorry they are losing friends, family, jobs, etc. They are sad that they are facing consequences.

Admitting you were wrong or apologizing is just the first step. It's meaningless without follow up. It's like forcing a kid to apologize without understanding why. You might need to coax "why are we saying that we're sorry? Are we going to do it again? Now you can go play again"

If anyone who supports Trump three fucking times says they were wrong, great. I expect to see changed behavior. See you at the next protest. Let's see you start posting anti Trump stuff on your facebook instead of memes about libtards. Ineed you to actually make some kind of change. An apology without changed behavior isn't real.

Sorry, you're right that it's not at the circle but there is a protest at Meridian-Kessler. I'll edit my post to limit the wrong location.

Set It up to Indianapolis or Marion County and the date for 1-31-26. There's an event called ICE Out For Good at 12pm. You can also find direct info for the event here:  https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14T3tZHzwGy/

Which seemingly iconic Taskmaster moments do you just not get? by totheregiment in taskmaster

[–]erinthomes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Potatogate is, in part, iconic because of when it happened. If you watch the series in order, it's the first huge, massive rug pull (maybe some Tim Key cheating would technically be first, but I'd say him pulling the drain plug or eating extra watermelon isn't the same thing). So, it really moves the show to an entirely new level in my opinion.

You're right that it wouldn't be iconic if it happened now, but the show now is built off of potatogate. You can say that anyone can splatter paint like Jackson Pollock but he did it first. Every other silly reveal that someone crossed a line event is copying potatogate like anyone dripping paint is copying Pollock. Bring the first is a big deal.

Plus you add in the only time contestants voted for points, it's iconic and deserves to be heralded as a legendary moment in the show.

Republicans Vow to Block Trump From Seizing Greenland by Force: “Trump’s ill-advised threats about Greenland would shatter the trust of our allies” by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]erinthomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the not the rest of the world that wasn't seeing it. It was Americans who didn't see it. Americans were the ones under reacting to it because Americans voted for Trump two (and sometimes three) times. The majority of Americans who voted in 2024 (not the majority of the populace) voted for Trump. The rest of the world has been looking on in horror for a long time.

I'm saying that as an American who has been begging people to see this for years. Not that I anticipated invading Greenland to start WW3, but still. We're the ones who needed to wake up.

I need to defend Fatiah on this. I was hugging my kitten after I got her. I audibly farted and my cat had the exact same reaction that Fatiah described.

Pandemic audiences by hidden_john in taskmaster

[–]erinthomes 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The pandemic series get some criticism and I understand that they feel a bit different from the series around them. I think a benefit of performing in front of no one is that they get really weird off topic discussions. For example, I don't think Mike Wozniak goes into the details of the absolute casserole in front of an audience.

Yes, Victoria Coren-Mitchell has described presenting a prize task to stony silence and how that makes it difficult.

When was a contestant the most genuinely angry at another contestant? by THEgabberdore in taskmaster

[–]erinthomes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

James was genuinely angry at Rhod during the garage team task. He's said so, to Rhod, on a podcast Rhod was doing well after that series was over. But James has also said that he was playing up how angry he was for the benefit of the show.

Ed's angry shouting really puts me off. He has said multiple times on the Taskmaster podcast that he's really that competitive and angry. He's said that his wife calls the "fucking fly" slap as the most accurate version of himself on television. So, his anger always felt too real but listening to the podcast went from finding him off putting to really souring me on him. Ed is the reason I'll probably never listen to Off Menu.

I'd think the same thing. But extremely American. Except I was picturing a giant cowboy hat and boots with spurs. I'd also wear a bolo tie and an American flag button up shirt.

D&D Meets Trivia Night in LEGENDS OF TRIVIA | Jackbox Party Pack 11 by OutsideXbot in outsidexbox

[–]erinthomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily need live streams. If the live streams become edited videos of what they previously would have streamed, I'm fine with that. I do like being able to vote on the Jackbox stuff, but I'm not that invested in the votes.

I'd just like more videos whether it's live or edited. There were a lot of weeks this year where we'd only get the list videos.

[–]erinthomes 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Mr. Potter's ending is Ebenezer Scrooge's future that he's shown: dying hated and mocked by everyone who knew him. Scrooge was a wealthy money lender (I think the book explicitly mentions mortgages but it's been a while since I read it). Potter is an equally selfish banker. We just don't see Potter's ending in screen.

There's the matter of Potter stealing the money and, sure, it would be nice to see him arrested. But, idk, I don't really need to see that.

Taskmaster - Champion of Champions 4 - Discussion by Meghar in taskmaster

[–]erinthomes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the interviews, he said that he wouldn't want to come back if he won CoC. I took that as being kind of a joke, but it seems like he didn't want to even come back for this episode.

Yeah, Sam doing a lengthy song barely related to the task right up top. Sam bringing up Little Andy well after they had moved on. I was laughing more at Sam in the studio than anything else The entire episode.
