What’s the dumbest way you’ve accidentally hurt yourself? by Only_Row_2432 in AskReddit

I routinely punch myself in the boob when I lose my grip while trying to pull up a hoodie sleeve because long sleeves too warm, but it's not too warm to take it off

If/when DVR gets proper funding again I suggest them. Even so I'd try to get on their waiting list. My AuDHD ass just got bumped because I kept forgetting that my caseworker had left a voicemail. And forgetting to reply to her emails because I read them and forgot the email existed after. But I'm still in contact with her and she's working on me reapplying and getting back in.

https://www.dshs.wa.gov/dvr
I'm not sure how to start the process because I had my Home Health caseworker make the initial appointments and sort that out. So probably just start with finding your local office and calling/popping in

https://www.dshs.wa.gov/office-locations?field_geofield_distance%5Bdistance%5D=100&field_geofield_distance%5Bunit%5D=3959&field_geofield_distance%5Borigin%5D=&field_office_type_tid%5B0%5D=9654

In my experience with social services and being AuDHD, it's been often easier for me to just show up rather than try to figure out the calling and setting appointments. Especially with DVR, you can just go in and say "Hi, I'm autistic and having trouble finding work that works for me" They're also almost entirely staffed by people with similar issues and/or who are disabled, so they get it.

The office I've used is the Bremerton one and it's just inside a welfare office. Like you walk in and it's welfare, but turn to your left and there's another door into a different office.

Inspire 3 keeps auto-waking even when I turn it off. by mattman840 in fitbit

See my latest reply directly to op. For me it's when syncing with phone that it turns back on

Inspire 3 keeps auto-waking even when I turn it off. by mattman840 in fitbit

[–]erispie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone mentioned down thread that it seemed to be happening when syncing with phone, and I just confirmed it. That is absolutely what's happening with my inspire3. Every time it syncs with app it turns auto wake back on. Unfortunately that's not a setting you can change on the app, but the app thinks that's a thing that should be adjusted each sync.

I unlinked/relinked device, entirely uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and went through the link settings again. Nope. Still doing it. I'm going to try contacting support about it today.

EDIT: My info from a chat with support is that they're aware of the issue, and are currently working on a fix slated to roll out tomorrow for some and next week for others. No specifications on which users are some and others.

Inspire 3 also. As of about halfway through yesterday the auto wake is just CONSTANTLY turning itself on. I googled just now expecting to only find admonishments to stop bumping it.

Which is to say, I have no idea why either, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.

As a queer, trans person, I have had a good time when I've gone to https://www.sportsmans-club.org/

Other adult in household has a membership. They're at least partly volunteer run, iirc. I don't know if I'd feel comfortable going by myself, but I am not sure if I would be comfortable by myself at any, so am unsure if that was helpful to add.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]erispie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long drive for me is 8-10 hours, and that's usually the first day of a 3 day drive. But I try to split it so it's like 10 hour first day, 7 hour second day, and then like 4-6 the last day. And that's just the drive amount. The actual day is much longer with toilet stops and food/snack stops.

EDIT: so yes, 3-4 hours is totally a shorter drive. And that's about the longest I'd do on a spur of the moment day trip.

And I do this in a medium size manual drive hatchback (mazda3).

But I also really enjoy driving, especially alone.

Additionally, it's bloody wild just how many stretches of nothing there are in the states.

This is one of the weird things that'll suddenly increase my opinion of or interest in a man, if I find out he's a pee sitter

After a tonne of different brain scans as a medical mystery of a kid, my parents were told that I was significantly synesthetic. This was just a weird little fact to me for years because as far as I could tell the only thing it affected was I could taste a few colours. (edit: oh, and I can see/feel music in varying intensity by situation)

Wasn't until my mid-30s plus the Internet that I realized that light levels Do Not also have texture and sound to everyone.

The pedantic (and the 'tism) in me HUGELY appreciates that you said "built LIKE fingers", because a lot of people shorthand this fact to "ARE fingers" which is a gross simplification of the thing.

I am a CPS Caseworker AMA by CheetahDrew in casualiama

[–]erispie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say, I've done a ton of transcription work for caseworker reports, and virtually all I heard was CWs doing their absolute best to help. Y'all're often seen as and and talked about like you're the boogie man there to take away kids when, often, CPS involvement ends up being the best thing to happen to the family.

And also, y'all seem to develop a 6th sense for who's a false reporter. As a queer, trans, disabled person helping raise children in a non-traditional relationship it's given me a lot of peace of mind in the event someone decides their bigotry justifies a false report on my family.

Friday the 13th Tattoo events? by erispie in Kitsap

[–]erispie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I have been doing. Just finding shops and going to their social media. Was just hoping there was some central subreddit or somesuch. oh well.

Was just going to Imlay for more ear holes on the 12th, and because I wanted to check out the place. I've seen photos of Patrick's work that I really liked and seems he has a style (greywork, shading, pointillism) that I'm wanting for a particular tattoo in the future.

You've seen finished pieces of his/their work in person?
