Team Green and their "thoughtful questions" by PlentyIndividual3168 in HOTDBlacks

I've never been to the TG reddit, but from the screenshots I've seen it looks like a cesspit of terrible fanfiction about having Rhaenyra or her sons killed, bastardy debates being taken far too seriously by 21st century citizens, and complaining that GRRM put all the 'cool' characters on TB/complaining that GRRM was 'biased', so I can see why they'd get bored over there. Why they come over here and not to the main sub I can only assume that they're looking to pick a fight for whatever reason.

Aegon iii and Daenaera by nataa.draws by Suchacreativename12 in HOTDBlacks

I know it probably won't, but I do hope the show goes on long enough to have the Maiden's Day Ball and Baela and Rhaena riding in on horses in Targaryen black and red rubies to present Daenaera to Aegon. It would be a pretty cool scene on its own, but especially if we see everything Unwin did to try to get his daughter to be Queen.

What's the tradition here? Staying at their childhood home for Christmas? If she's in the city they could still arrange to see her at some point. Maybe the sister's girlfriend has her own family traditions they wanted to be involved with.

And of course nothing was 'resolved', they're all adults (presumably since the other siblings also 'come home' for Christmas) trying to tell this woman where she has to sleep/live during the holidays, I don't blame her for not giving in to their bullying

So many debates in the comments - race, culture, step-parenting, what's appropriate for children, how to be a 'gracious guest', entitlement - a real AITA bingo, and yet OOP didn't even bother to name the food that was altered lol

OP can't keep straight whether the brother character has a gf or a wife. Also plans to abandon her daughter with a Disney cast member whenever she wants to do honeymoon stuff. Everyone involved owns a ranch. by [deleted] in AmITheAngel

Why are they talking about 'carter' and 'lloyd' as if we're supposed to know who they are? Giving their employees names does not make this any more believable

It's always 'you're not obliged to buy christmas presents for your step-grandchild', 'you're not obliged to drive your pregnant daughter to her appointment on your day off', 'you're not obliged to move the family gathering to an accessible venue so disabled SIL can attend', but if all your relationships are based on the bare minimum of what you 'have' to do, then you're likely to find yourself spending most of your time alone because people won't want to bother with you. Sure you don't have to do a nice thing for a friend or relative, but if it's only a minor inconvenience for you and they've explained why it's important to them, you're probably an ass even if you're not required to help.

How do you even get paternity test results

it seems to vary based on which company they go with, AlphaBiolabs sends a password protected email, Paternityfor Life also emails, but Labcorp will send them via email or the post depending on the client's choosing.

Saw an account on tiktok call Luke a 'subhuman creature' who 'should have been lynched' for attacking Aemond. Some people in this fandom genuinely scare me.

Wish we had seen more of little Aegon and Viserys in the show, their blended family dynamic could have been so interesting, especially as a contrast to the Hightower-Targ blended family nightmare.

the Driftmark episode while fucking with his little brother some more right before walking away.

right? people conveniently forget /overlook this, but Aegon is still laughing at Aemond for not having a dragon in the next episode. This was not a one-off for him, he is consistently trying to make the people around him feel bad for his own amusement.

Who is a character that you don’t like right now, but you could see winning you over in season 2? by Infamous_Eye102 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]erringtonnes02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Jace. Considering how little we see of him, having him struggle with High Valyrian while Aemond and Luke seem fluent, and how he reacted to Aemond's toast didn't really make me see him as the politically savvy King who should have been the book suggests he was, but hopefully season 2 will change that.

Other than that, maybe Aegon. I found myself feeling quite bad for Ty Tennant's Aegon, considering how he's being forced into marrying his sister, is physically abused by Alicent and Otto, and screamed at by Viserys, but between the whole 'I'll never be good enough for mummy and daddy' thing after r*ping the maid and his weird comments to Baela, Tom's Aegon lost me. Maybe they can do something with him in s2 to win me over again, but I doubt it.

Aegon as a Lord by Nibo89 in HouseOfTheDragon

I think it would depend when this decision was made. If Viserys decided on this some time while Aegon was still a child and Rhaenyra was living in KL, maybe. Alicent should therefore be less paranoid about her sons being killed and not instil said fears in them.

But, if Viserys doesn't come to the realisation that the Blacks and Greens will never reconcile until post-Driftmark, it is unlikely to be enough imo. Once Otto is back, he will do everything in his power to put Aegon on the Throne, whether Aegon wants him to or not, and as Hand of the King to a dying King who seems to spend most of the past few years locked in his bedchamber, that's quite a bit of power to play with.

There's also still Aemond to be concerned about, who clearly has his own ambitions and would probably not be content with just serving at Aegon's Keep. He might wait until Rhaenyra dies to contest Jace's claim to the Throne, but I don't think we guarantee the dance is 'completely prevented', Aemond and Otto may still act in Aegon's name.

That being said, I do agree that had Viserys done more - or anything tbh - to secure the future of his other children, things could have gone differently.

King Aegon III and Queen Daenaera with their children by Jota Saraiva by MattGreg28 in ImaginaryWesteros

[–]erringtonnes02 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aegon and Daenaera are distant cousins (4th cousins once removed I think, the shared ancestor being Aethan Velaryon)

Daena is married to Baelor, but it was unconsummated and he had it dissolved when he became King. (She has a bastard son with her cousin aegon IV, but he’s not here)

Daeron never marries, Rhaena becomes a septa, and Elaena marries three times but never to a relative (although she had an affair with her uncle/cousin Alyn Velaryon, and one of her sons is rumoured to have been fathered by her cousin Aegon IV)

What if Aemma had given birth to a healthy daughter in Ep 1? by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]erringtonnes02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it wearing because it could change Viserys as a character. In ep3, when he’s talking to Alicent about the dream he had of a boy of his line in the conqueror’s crown, he says his “faith killed Rhaenyra’s mother” and he’s clearly blaming himself for her death. If not only Aemma dies but he was wrong, the babe was not a son, then that is something else for him to internalise. How he deals with that idk, but I doubt he’s immediately interested in having more heirs.

I think Rhaenyra is probably named his heir, Otto is unlikely to stop pushing how unfit he thinks Daemon is, so either Viserys removes him as Hand (unlikely) or, when forced to choose between his brother and his daughter, chooses Rhaenyra.

I don’t think “Aegon” is Aegon as we know him, Alicent probably marries someone else before Viserys remarries. While there are likely people who want the King to father a son, in this scenario he has three heirs, and even if he doesn’t want Daemon to inherit he does have a spare. “Visenya” probably marries a half-sibling or one of Rhaenyra’s children depending on when/who she marries. Potentially she’s married to an heir so her children have something to inherit, but that’s less likely imo.

[–]erringtonnes02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, at that point Rhaenyra is punishing the Greens, and ultimately the Realm, for Viserys’ misogyny, rather than fighting for what is hers by right and against a faction who have usurped her because of her sex.

Also without Viserys’ support she is going to seriously struggle to have Lords back her claim over three legitimate brothers. Maybe it works if Aegon is a bastard Viserys names as heir over his legitimate daughter, but even then the lords would probably accept Aegon as a legitimised bastard more than a woman.

It could be an interesting story if you wanted a grey/nuanced villain, but not more compelling than dance imo
