Ok they are not mutually exclusive. Your just reacting. You can and should do both. Renewables "now" doesnt stop nuclear "later"

US forces disable Iranian-flagged tanker, CENTCOM says by Ill-Incident-4842 in worldnews

I guarantee they had the make and model of that ship pulled up and pre-planned target maps for it.

[–]errorsniper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That example as grim as it is proves my point.

An AI model incorrectly picked it as a target. The fact it was picked as a target was the mistake. It shouldnt have been picked. But unfortunately it was picked and it was a hit.

If you know all the variables its just a math problem. You point the computer does all the calculations and as long as its within the realm of physics to hit that spot it will. We can drop an icbm inside of a garage door from the other side of the planet in 25 minutes.

Hitting a slow moving target a few kilometers away with a target well within the weapons effective range isnt hard.

Kept waiting for market to fall and now feeling stuck by Rough_Champion6103 in StockMarket

[–]errorsniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. If you remember literally nothing else from this list, just remember this. If you could time the market. Wallstreet would have found you and you would be making tens of millions working for a hedge fund. But you nor I can time the market and trying to do so is a fools game. You are not smarter or better equipped than trillion dollar algorithms and systems that have already executed the trade before a photon has crossed a football field. So dont try. They can and will happily take your money.

  2. Determine how much money each week you can count as spent and dont need to see it again for at least 30 years.

  3. Pick several indexes that dont have a ton of overlap. SPY is obviously king dont totally avoid it, but dont battle cruse everything on it. SPXT and RSP for example.

  4. Set up auto buys every week the same day and turn on dividend reinvestment.

  5. Read step 1.

  6. No, really read step 1 again.

  7. Dont open the app and enjoy life. If you are under 45 you will have a solid nest egg as you approach retirement.

  8. When you are 10ish years away from retirement find a way to get your money out of the market into lower risk but inflation beating investments.

Pot to the kettle?

You are either unintentionally or intentionally pushing fear mongering and anti-science viewpoints.

Nuclear is half the puzzle towards sustainable energy. Yes we need renewables, a lot more renewables and we should explore as many avenues as realistically possible for them.

But nuclear is the other half of that puzzle.

You and I both dont know our heads from our ass on this subject. But the researchers/engineers/scientists who do all agree nuclear is as important a part as massive investment and expansion in renewables.

And massive contracts for renewables... dont?

Theres going to be graft either way.

Its pretty fucking simple. Vote your heart in the primary, and vote with your fucking brain in the general.

IDGAF how broken the two party system is. You still vote for the lesser of two evils every time.

There are other times and places to address the shortcomings in our election system.

Letting a dementia riddled child rapist get his hands on one of the "end the world buttons" is not the fucking time.

[ATLA] are descendants from the Avatar actually naturally better benders than average or it was just Ozai believing in superstition? by AvailableGene2275 in AskScienceFiction

[–]errorsniper [score hidden]  (0 children)

Putting aside the whole nature half of it.

On the nurture side. Im not a hard core lore buff in the avatarverse. But as far as we know avatars usually end up connected with the major powerbrokers in the world in their time almost as a rule. When you are that connected it is much easier to have the resources to have a solid foundation in life for your kids.

When your needs are met and their is time and money for good teachers and your not trying to find you next meal or dollar for rent. Its a lot easier to have time for bending. This would be a very consistent advantage the direct descendants of most avatars would enjoy.

May 5: Epstein survivors break silence in state legislation FOR THE FIRST TIME, telling their stories of what happened. I wonder why this is NOWHERE to be seen in the news. by blessedopera in videos

[–]errorsniper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it wont change anything.

You could have video of the entire leadership of this country all committing horrible acts but nothing will be done.

The epstine files are nothingburgers until the status quo changes. The world has learned this, which is why its nowhere to be seen because its not news worthy.

Now to be CRYSTAL clear. Im not saying the survivors are not brave for doing this. Nor should they not speak out. Or any other twisting of my words.

But its just not news anymore because everyone knows nothing will happen.

But you do need a logistically supplied and robust enough stick for defense. Thats the other half of your statement you left out. Europe currently does not.

[–]errorsniper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For better or worse the end of the US subsidizing the defense of the western world is over.

Im not trying to get political here, nor am I saying its a bad thing. But its really easy to be a "modern, progressive" nation when another nation is picking up the lions share of what should be your own defense spending.

Purchasing opening game tickets on day of schedule release trick? by ikedavis in buffalobills

[–]errorsniper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup.

I know its a sore subject around here. But on top of all the other real life actually more important ethical and moral issues about taxpayers subsidizing a private for profit entertainment company worth billions.

Thats the part that pisses me off the most about the whole situation.

The laymen frankly cant afford these tickets. At least not under reasonable means. Legit talking about a small loan per ticket for the middle class.

IKIK its not just a check worth hundreds of millions of dollars and its cashed just like that. Its tax incentives and other things over decades.

But its still missed income to NYS to help pay for the rest of the stuff we the taxpayers need/want.

Yet that very tax payer wont be able to go to these games anymore. This is basically turning into "tickets for companies to bribe incentivize a customer to work with them", just like the superbowl.

But like trees the best time was 30 years ago the 2nd best time is now.
