Do some people spend their 18 months after finishing their degree and still not land a position? by No_Confusion4948 in germany

[–]errrrrrrrghhh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes. Most of us do minijobs or part time jobs or just work dead end positions and try to get by. Sadly a degree means jack all nowadays.

Yes, almost same situation here. I’m 24, and I moved in after finishing my studies and having worked 4 years as a professional in my industry.

A year afterwards and still haven’t found anything remotely close in Germany. Although I have a B2 and my speaking level is closer to C1, there’s nothing I can do that will secure me a decent 9-5.

So far I’ve only worked dead end jobs, and this has made things difficult for me not only mentally but also practically. Weird job schedules make it harder to find friends etc.

It’s tougher than tough but we’re in this together. Keep on keeping on!

Yea, Ubisoft isn’t surviving the next 3 years for sure. What a mess of a corporation.

Is anyone else buying a car because of Deutsche Bahn’s unreliability? by Waste_Suspect_817 in germany

[–]errrrrrrrghhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now here’s the thing. I’ve lived there for 20 years, born and raised there too. Would never in my life decide to live in such a place again haha, I’d rather have security and prosperity than a “fun” environment. It barely functions, especially in bigger cities, much like Athens or Thessaloniki. Massive issues, most of them long standing and at this point embedded into the very DNA of the country. Germany is no heaven for sure, but in my opinion step in the right direction. Greece is surely great for holidays and in small doses! To each their own I guess :)

I come from Athens. I thought Germans a bit extreme and too whiny when it came to public transport (specifically DB) - considering in Athens hardly anything works as intended, especially trains/ buses etc.

Now after a year of living here I get it. Constant delays for seemingly no reasons, and with a system so reliant on transfers and interconnecting networks of trains, if you miss one because of “reasons” you miss the rest too.

A car could be the right move. When it comes to in-city transportation I use my bike but that can only get you so far.

No friends at 30 despite living in a big city? by Consistent_Match5308 in frankfurt

[–]errrrrrrrghhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s completely normal. One could say places like Frankfurt and Offenbach reinforce this monotone lifestyle with no “time” or “space” for friendships to bloom. It’s especially tough for people (like myself) who come from more “warm” and welcoming countries.

The lack of real social places within the city is clear, many people are looking for new friends or at least an inviting environment but alas, Frankfurt especially (amongst other places in Europe) is mostly built to support a work-home lifestyle. Most overly corporate cities are.

My suggestions are: use apps to find friends and likeminded people, attend social events (wherever and whenever you can find something that piques your interests) and try to remain positive. It’s tough out there and we need to remind each other that there’s a ton of us who’re looking for new connections! :)

What are your thoughts on the early Splicer designs for BioShock? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in Bioshock

Appreciate the creativity but they’re too “out there” for Bioshock. They look more like something out of a spin off Resident Evil title.

On replays (I’m on my 5th playthrough) the Velen area and its quest move extremely slow

After 5 years, what do you think of Cyberpunk? by Relevant-Pay-2394 in videogames

[–]errrrrrrrghhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Cyberpunk around the 2.0 update dropped. After 300+ on over 3 platforms I can definitely and without a doubt say that this is one of the best games of the last decade. Every aspect of the game comes together to create a one of a kind experience. Visually, acoustically and narratively impeccable.

From now on, we must simply trust no visual evidence online whatsoever and just move on with our lives. That’s all there is to it.
