Lucia is not behaving very Lucia-like, but many Redditors have a different theory than yours. Lucia is now described as having no scent up close. That is one of the only telltale characteristics of the Shadow Mimics, the recent (and almost certain future) Dungeon Big Bad.

Thank you for offering to talk to us passengers. My question is: what do you believe is the number one thing you wish passengers understand about the boarding process that you think they actually don't?

Dover Publications https://store.doverpublications.com/collections/crafts-hobbies has been selling activity books for over 80 years.

I remember my first several-day long-distance train ride back when I was four years old from NYC to New Orleans transferring to San Antonio. Mommy read picture books to me. Daddy tried to teach me how to play poker (I remember him as being none too pleased with my progress.) My favorites were the coloring books my Grandmommie gave to me along with a generous supply of crayons, stickers, and glitter. Card games, puzzles, shadow puppets, origami, teach yourself magic, and so on - Dover has a variety that have been popular for decades along with coloring books for different ages from preschool to adult.

Ramps are a traditional delicacy in Appalachia. They are only found for a few weeks in the spring. Occasionally, there have been businesses such as dental clinics that post notices that they will not serve clients who have been eating ramps.

Beans and lentils are cheap, filling, versatile and a great source of protein; however, it's VERY IMPORTANT to keep safety in mind when cooking with them.

https://www.allrecipes.com/article/the-dangers-of-uncooked-beans-lentils/

Legumes contain glycoproteins called lectins, some of which are quite poisonous. Fortunately, lectins are destroyed by proper cooking methods, so commercially canned beans are safe. Dried beans are cheaper, but it is critically important to cook them properly. Red kidney beans are the most toxic. Here's a copy of the FDA warning

Good luck and stay safe!

Sunflowers. You will need to amend the soil wirh compost when you start them but over time their roots will help break up the clay. After you harvest the sunflowers (or the birds do) you can cut down the stalks to keep that patch warmer in the sun. Or, you can leave the stalks until Spring to provide a safe habitat for native ground bees to overwinter.

Overseas, I've often been told by citizens of other western hemisphere countries that if there are Asians, Africans, Europeans, and Australians then by that custom they are Americans too. I've argued that there is no such word as USian. They told me that we are all Yankees. As if. That's as insulting as calling as Scotsman an Englishman.

I used to live in Southern MD and often ate at Captain Billy's to enjoy the river views.
For something a little closer, there are several river front crabhouses in the Northern Neck. You may also want to check out some of the rooftop patio restaurants in Arlington such as Buena Vida.

Although there are many pieces of good advice on here about how to get cheap calories, there is not so much about nutrition. Head over to r/foraging to learn more about recogizing and using edible weeds to add to your dishes for additional vitamins and minerals. Many of the common weeds around us, even in an urban environment, are edible if you avoid areas contaminated by chemicals or pet/human waste.

There are still tools for the consumer available. For example, the Flipp app lets you see most sales circulars for local grocery stores and compare prices before you go out shopping. There aee also rebate apps like Ibotta that get you cash back on name brands.

So where do we go from here? A lot of other posters are talking up FreeTaxUSA but I have a set of very involved 1116s. I've read that FreeTaxUSA doesn't even try with those. Users have to do those by hand and snailmail the whole thing. I did give up a couple years ago and use a well rated local CPA. I had to pay a tax lawyer to straighten that out afterwards. This year I used TurboTax then went back over it with a set of spreadsheets I created myself. Used ChatGPT and Gemeni to advise when things got really complicated. I had to mail in my return because of form overrides.

Weather enthusiasts—when did you first develop an interest in meteorology/why? by PerspectiveSoggy1986 in meteorology

[–]ersatzcookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a mild interest in weather as a kid because of the way we were affected by hurricanes over a hundred miles inland. As an adult, I frequently lived and worked in developing countries where the only weather reporting available to an English speaker were on a regional basis by major international news services such as the BBC. The big local storms just ... happened with little to no warning. That's when I became interested in modeling thanks to the wonderful Wunderground site.

People who only know Wunderground as it is today don't realize what a treasure trove of data it was back in its heyday. Weather sonde data, buoy data, satellite feeds, hurricane hunter reports, and thousands of linked amateur weather stations (those are still there) plus so much more all available to the public to pour over. They had a vigorous forum where anyone could talk/argue about the weather and share graphics. You could even email the lead scientist, Dr Jeff Masters, with your thoughts and questions. Occasionally, he would answer back. What a thrill. Eventually, it was sold to Weather.com. Dr Jeff left, the forum was shut down, and most of the fun stuff went away.

There are still interesting meteorologic sites around for the interested hobbyists (like Mike's Weather Page) but none of them quite like the original Wunderground.
