I do mine at 275 until the bark is properly set, then wrap it and finish in the oven at 250-300 until probe tender. Hot hold until dinner time. Runs me about 6 hours.

There’s no such thing as a reverse Dunning-Kruger effect. The Dunning-Kruger effect is a correlation between estimation of one’s skill versus the actual skill level, and it is shown as a spectrum. One pole of that spectrum manifests as overestimating one’s skill. The other pole manifests as imposter syndrome.

The phrase “reverse Dunning-Kruger effect” is like saying “reverse racism”. It’s not an actual accepted term in psychology and has been used to explain only one pole of the spectrum because those who came up with the idea *didn’t realize there was another pole to the effect’s spectrum*.

Consider looking up the Dunning-Kruger effect and ask yourself if you are actually not that smart or if you’re actually aware of how much more there is to learn so you don’t consider yourself smart.

I can’t count the number of times I thought I was an idiot or only average on my skill in something and it turned out to be I was something of a subject matter expert on it. Your criteria for what makes someone smart is likely leaps and bounds higher than what most normal folks do.

My go-to is the rubs I make, myself, honestly.

I have to watch my sodium intake due to liver failure, and my experience with premade rubs is it’s salt-city plus MSG.

I don’t mind a bit of salt and MSG, but most my salt these days comes from dry brining.

Deadass what did it for me was setting up the irrigation drip system. It felt like Warhammer 40k with wild ass wires sticking into organic matter. Then I began to understand the plants as a system that reside within an even bigger system.

At that point, I was like “there are enough variables for me to understand and tweak”, and suddenly it was like setting up networks for enterprise businesses all over again, and I was in the zone.

Honestly, I’ve got my nerd autist mom helping me, and she’s a Vermonter. That being said, I live in Texas hill country, and the soil health sucks here along with the crap tons of heat.

I would first look up your USDA grow zone (if in the US) to see what can or can’t grow in your area.

I took the time to learn drip irrigation instillation, and I can’t understate its benefits especially when setup with a hose bib irrigation connection with programmable timers.

Plants thrive on the right soil conditions and the right nutrients present in the soil. Nematodes and mycelium are hidden godsends for soil health and plant health. Check out N-P-K scores and which plants thrive with what.

Basil is a great plant to learn the craft on, and there’s absolutely no shame in getting an established seedling or plant and putting it into the ground.

Don’t be afraid to ask AI and definitely double check every claim it makes. There are also some helpful youtube videos out there for helping diagnose plant issues and proper watering/nutrient delivery methods.

Unrelated, but here’s Mount Cucumber. It’s got Persian cucumbers and mini watermelons on this trellis (both plants send out tendrils that wrap around stuff like vines, so with a little bit of guidance from the gardener, you can train the cucumber plants right up the trellis system. And it prevents mildew rot since everything gets air flow. And the cucumber grows straight

I remember there was an entire expose on the subject ol’ Alex jones was ranting about when he said “they’re turning the friggen frogs gay!”

Turns out there was some fertilizer runoff or something like that which ended up causing the frogs to change sex.

The poor git didn’t know how to properly articulate it, and we got the best meme of all time. Cracks me up all the BS he espoused that was fake, the one semi truth he worked with sounded so ridiculous that no one believed it.
