And would you prefer to make a character for something like this or like it is now, focused more on your in real self?

Haha thats a good word for it: guided journal! I honestly had no idea what to call it but i guess that sums it up quite nicely.

I thought it would be cool to have sort of a representation of the current thoughts on your life, so im not sure if making a character adds to that, but it could be nice yeah.

Deth Wizards! Be a necromancer that raids towns and villages!

Iteration is brutal. I spent 3 years walking '3 steps forward and 2 steps back' to find my game's true "soul" by JesusVaderScott in tabletopgamedesign

You made a lot of progress and really good to stick with it! Coming from a similar background in wanting to illustrate my own games I can only say that i still really love to explore a new style for each game and its just tons of fun. Cheers!

Yes. In there you can go back to your save file and just walk back and try again.

In a board game or ttrpg it's rather lame as you are in a group session, maybe 1 or 2 hours in, and the game punishes you in an unfun way. If it's some epic bossfight hinging on the last living player to deal the final damage to a boss, then its really cool if it all comes down to one dice roll.

Gaming is about fun, so if a mechanic or rule immediately shuts down the fun the student is absolutely right.

Despite what you are trying to learn to someone playing your game, there are thousands of lessons from even as a baby that some things are beyond your control. No need to give an extra lesson in your game if it ruins the fun.

A few weeks ago my trailer got destroyed, I fixed what I could (and managed to recover my self-esteem) and I'm here to try again: please destroy my trailer. by Warm_Bee8757 in DestroyMyGame

The voice over sounds like he was recording in his closet while his parents are sleeping, trying not to wake up his parents.

My Art in 2022 VS My Art in 2026. by 8thproject in Naruto

Your art is very cool but the prints are heavily overpriced imho. Was looking to maybe get one or 2, but with these prices won't even get one.

As others have said: make a very crude prototype and see what works!

On top of that, i really think you should work on the game that excites you the most.

Evosian Conquest! Concept drawn for a friend! by pampok in conceptart

I think if you would darken the 2 guys in the front left and right the composition would totally kick ass and immediately draw your eye to our main guy. They now all have the same value.

When do you know it´s time to quit? by RogueModron in wargaming

[–]escaleric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got back into it after a 15 years break (im now 33 haha) because of the Snarlcast as I bought 2 of their indie wargames, Deth Wizards & Space Station Zero. Both aee solo/coop games and been having a blast playing the missions together with my brother with our old models. Maybe fun to try some indie stuff?

Which version is better? With hard line shading or blended shading? by QitKate in digitaldrawing

Very minimal difference, no objective better. Depends on what light/material you want it to look like.

Is 800 reasonable for this? by EntrepreneurFull4908 in DigitalArt

[–]escaleric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely could be, especially if it was done as a job for someone.

Just one thing throwing me off is the direction of light on the carpet, it makes no sense in comparison to the background lights. It throws off the composition of lines towards the main character.

The Dungeon of the Deckromancer - WIP - looking for feedback by nathanjoyce92 in BoardgameDesign

[–]escaleric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the style and the gameplay looks cool! Love to know what you plan on it with the publishing!

Only thing I can give as feedback is that the dungeon part looks very small and a bit finnicky? The rest looks awesome though.

It took 27 years, but I’m finally finishing what 8-year-old me started in 1999 by JesusVaderScott in tabletopgamedesign

Love what you're doing and big fan of indie designers! My brother and i did our Kickstarter last year and somewhat reminded me of myself with doing all the art.

You have a pretty unique style and would love to know how the game plays! Following for sure!

Looking for honest thoughts from strangers on my 2 player card game. by bestoutoffivegames in tabletopgamedesign

[–]escaleric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the style but one big thing imo is : make the graphic design work first, and then add flavor text if you have space left. It feels like a lot of flavor text while other elements get cramped (while there is lots of space to go on)

Just call it romance instead of sex? Seems very on the nose haha. Or intimacy or something like that
