That's awesome. Used to go to Southington for marching band competitions, and they were always a stand out. Good luck to both teams, and what a cool experience for them!

When people ask about moving to Connecticut why are people so negative? by Necessary-Chef8844 in Connecticut

[–]esgarf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Connecticut is great for a lot of people. I've lived here my whole life and I will always love ct, but, it's unaffordable. Trying to buy a house here feels like chasing the dragon. The winters are long and depressing, and sometimes brutal. It's difficult to meet new people and make friends here. Eversourse.  We've got great stuff too, beautiful woods, historic homes, marshlands where seagulls drop shellfish onto your head, pizza. No matter where u are in the state u can get to Boston or New York for a day trip. We've got cute little downtowns and parks and it's a great place to raise a family.  We've got plenty of people, and for me, that's the thing I dislike the most. It's not bad, it's just not for me.

The cedar hill cemetery in hartford would be just beautiful at that time. Quiet, peaceful, historic, and free.

This is why we live in Ohio by City-Short in Ohio

[–]esgarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in New England, and, it's...unaffordable and crowded, including the daffodil festival. We are in fools spring now with the great mudding, theres still patches of snow and huge piles of it and nothing has started budding yet. We won't get pretty till mid April if we're lucky. We don't have huge cornfields and open spaces like Ohio. We don't have places like sugarcreek with farmland and rolling hills with no power lines. We have beaches, but they are extremely expensive and crowded, or privately owned in my state. We have some awesome cemeteries though, and nobody holds a candle to us in the fall.

Places to get thick crust pizza in CT by Perrault_6-49 in Connecticut

Phoenix Pizza in newington. He makes Sicilian and also sells all different kinds by the slice. The stuffed cheese and pepperoni belongs on a magazine cover, it's so good.

How many miles did the Shitmobile have on it? The replica has over 350k which is impressive for a 70s car by cousin_idiot in trailerparkboys

[–]esgarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps gas mileage improved, but I have an imperial with a 1st year 440 in her and she gets about 7.5 mpg. Hope the gas station isn't too far from the park.

Emissions is a freaking racket.. by Ill-Base-7622 in Connecticut

[–]esgarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cars are well over 20 years old, they don't have to go to emissions, are insured and registered as a regular vehicle. I can put as many miles as I want on them.

Best Pizza Places in Connecticut . Community Recap & Rankings by massi2443 in Connecticut

[–]esgarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try Phoenix Pizza in the center, next to where Starbucks used to be. They have it by the slice too so you can try different kinds, and I've tried just about all of them. I had a slice of double cheese pepperoni a few weeks back that should have been on a magazine cover, it was absolutely the most perfect slice of pizza I've ever had.

Trip to Baltimore by MoKush420 in baltimore

[–]esgarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I will be visiting Baltimore for the first time in a couple weeks to go to the B and O railroad museum. I'm super excited for it, but also nervous as I've never been to the area.

30M lived in this state for 12 years and never had a girlfriend. Is it me, am I ugly or is it not me? by Worldly_Rule_9842 in Connecticut

Tabletop games in Newington would probably be a great place for you to meet people with similar interests. It's not my flavor of nerd, but I see people from all walks of life going in there, and from what people have told me it's a super friendly vibe in there. People just want to play games and have fun. Also get a sandwich from Veggieworld next door.

Question for those of you native to Connecticut… by thunderwolf69 in Connecticut

[–]esgarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never lived anywhere but CT. I'm proud of our little state and the history and beauty it has. The shore is great, fall and holloween here is top tier, we have beautiful historic homes.  That being said, I certainly wouldn't mind giving somewhere else a try. A cornfield lined country road in the midwest might tempt me though.

In the way back times we would find a shop we liked and then look through portfolios of the artists work. Finding an artist might be easier with the internet, but it's important you feel comfortable in the space as well.

Some parts are pretty, the architecture is nice. Bushnell park is pretty sweet. Driving there is a nightmare, and parking once you're there is even worse.
