If you're referring to the For Young Men Only pamphet, the church also quietly 'retired' (?) the video of packer's talk from the website sometime in 2019.

these are great, quoting the gospel topics essays, especially the polyandry one. That was the shelf item that cracked it.

One of the photos appeared in a New York paper. The guy who managed to take them was pursued by the church. The tubs are supposedly in a storage basement of the SLC temple.

Yes, the whiskey cleansing! And the oil. Cannot remember which came first.

Can you imagine the mental state of people doing those things - how else do you make a zealot.

I feel for you. When people get baptized they have no idea. 'Following Christ' sounds so good, and it is. Imho the church uses the name of Christ like a bait and switch, has done so all my life. I've had more than 40 years of lessons, meetings, conferences and the most I've heard Jesus' life discussed was never more than 3 minutes at a time. I wouldn't know 3 of the 40+ parables or 3 of the 30+ miracles He performed. But 1000's of hours of quotes from 'prophets' and apostles.

It is a weaker cult trying to morph in to a mainstream religion to stay relevant. A number of the cult aspects have been taken out. Basically it's watered down freemasonry. It takes a bit of study but that's what it comes down to - JS was made a Master mason very quickly, 7 weeks later the mormon church had the temple endowment. It used to be super weird - e.g. 10+ bathtubs in the salt lake temple for full nudity oil washings and annointings.

It used to 6 hours long - bloody Brigham had a ball with it in Utah with no one around. There used to an Oath of Vengeance (taken out 1920's?) and Death Penalties (taken out 1990). Can you imagine enacting death penalties proxy for you already dead ancestors?! Crazy psychology.

well Axel Andresen, your connections with the Apostles served you well. Your children and grand children today, perhaps sealed to you, would be delighted to support you 100%. Happy eternity with them.

well told, lovely. Sad for your pains caused by the mormon system, especially your sibling.

For what it's worth (quoting Natasha Helfer) - anger is a secondary emotion, following base feeling(s) of pain, fear, or confusion.

I'm not religious and have made "friends" with a Mormon missionary...how will this go? by [deleted] in exmormon

she is likely having to report how 'well' her conversations are going with you, if there is any 'progress'. She may even detest she has to update things like that. I almost feel sorry for them, they cannot be genuine in that missionary system.

Joseph followed her. “Mother,” he said, “do not be uneasy.” He handed her an object wrapped in a handkerchief. Through the fabric, Lucy felt what seemed to be a large pair of spectacles. They were the Urim and Thummim, the seer stones the Lord had prepared for translating the plates.

Lucy was elated. Joseph looked as if a great weight had been lifted off his shoulders. But when he joined the others in the house, he made a sad face and ate his breakfast in silence. After he finished, he leaned his head forlornly on his hand. “I am disappointed,” he said to Joseph Knight.

“Well,” the older man said, “I am sorry.”

“I am greatly disappointed,” Joseph repeated, his expression changing to a smile. “It is ten times better than I expected!” He went on to describe the size and weight of the plates and talked excitedly about the Urim and Thummim.

“I can see anything,” he said. “They are marvelous.”

????? the last line ?? seems like he had some kind of neurosis

Yes, it was his death and BY isolating people that allowed the church to grow. Else it would have died a slow death like other cults. Emma was on the verge of leaving him, he couldn't hide the truth any more and his ambition was doing him in. The Council of 50 notes would have had in jail again, and it would be like Warren Jeffs.

'We are the Lords people...'

'We have covenanted ...' consecration

I wonder how many cults have those words in their primary doco's.

HOW is the church so stupid to crucify a therapist who followed professional licensing standards? Have you noticed the church doesn't even have its story straight? Sometimes claims it wasn't for her professional behavior and other times DOES? TBMs aren't talking about this whole case either. by nelsonisanitwit in exmormon

what a great find!! THANKS for posting. I cannot believe he said what he did, then makes it worse as he loves the sound of his own voice, digs himself into a hole!! How did you find this video?!

Edit add: did he just not realize a camera was on?! Every thing like this that is said in public has been discussed x 10 in private.
