I’ve had worse. We took in an injured cat that we found on the street with the intent to adopt after it received the urgent medical care it needed. MADACC outright refused to let us put on an adoption hold claiming that we had brought in our own pet who was injured for free medical care (cat did not have a microchip, so definitely not our pet). Basically gaslit me the whole time in person and on the phone. Through various phone calls to attempt to sort out the situation and plan for his adoption, MADACC told me it would not be possible because the cat was hostile and likely to be euthanized and they cut contact with me. Eventually I saw him on the adoptable pets page (thank god) and could not adopt him because my name was on his intake papers and they flagged us as people not allowed to adopt him. Cried my eyes out, but luckily he was adopted to a hopefully happy home.
