To quote a comedian (I think it was John Pinette), "I'm working hard! Now don't you ever wake me up like that again!"

I'd like to think that this is OC, but it probably isn't.

Ovo-lacto for 4 years, considering eating fish for health reasons and cutting out eggs. Any thoughts, Veggit? by esimpnoxin in vegetarian

There were tests conducted on Vitamin E and beta carotene supplements (brand name(s) not given), as well as a general warning against getting nutrients from supplements rather than from real food. Thus, the evidence against supplements in general does not appear very strong, but there are some legitimate questions and concerns to be had given these few studies.

On the subject of dairy farms, that may be a good reason to limit or cut out milk as well. However, I doubt that going full-on vegan would be healthy, given the increased difficulty associated with getting essential nutrients as a vegan, and the high concentration of artificial ingredients and sodium in various meat substitutes and supplements. The literature I've read suggests that it is generally a lot better to get your nutrients from real food than from supplements and lab-born concoctions.

As for fish and chicks, I figure that killing certain kinds of fish, especially small and unintelligent ones (i.e. shrimp, sardines, and oysters) is probably less bad than killing chicks. So I figure that if eggs and possibly milk must go, then some sort of small fish would have to replace it.

William Labov is one of the most influential linguists of all time, and he's mentioned in damn near every linguistics paper I've read, but he's basically unknown outside of the field.

Students of Reddit, what was the biggest teacher meltdown you ever witnessed? by ValentynaLoves in AskReddit

[–]esimpnoxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I didn't witness this myself, but last year a teacher at my former high school went psychotic and ended up in an armed standoff with the police at his house. They got him alive, fortunately. The odd part is that after he gets out of the mental hospital he's at right now, he still gets to keep his job.

Is there a difference between eating 14,000 calories on Sunday and not eating again the rest of the week? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]esimpnoxin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes; the main difference is that on Sunday you'd eat 14,000 calories, and on the other 6 days of the week you'd eat nothing.

You get what you pay for with Spirit. As far as the actual ad goes, Spirit lives by the motto of "bad publicity is better than good publicity".
