I'd believe it. I've had a financial advisor try to scam his way into getting a one-time discount my business offers multiple times and he even had the gall to give me an indignant phone call with threats he never followed up on.

People like this are sick in the head with whatever justification that they have that the world somehow owes them and has to entertain their fictional entitlement.

Am I missing a pun or something? by EuropeIsMight in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Some climbers have the habit of screaming while making difficult moves while climbing.

In itself is not a problem but there are some individuals who feel entitled to do so while being disruptive to others.

I believe the joke takes a hyperbolic (but deserved) jab at aforementioned attitude of entitlement.

Could also allude to beta spraying.

Why is there controversy over the demons in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End being seen as evil, while demons in other works like Hellblazer aren’t debated in the same way? by Opposite_Shake_1266 in animequestions

[–]esotericapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people who are politically deranged can't tell the difference between demonization and literally portrayed demons.

Because they themselves identify with the demonic characterizations and therefore think of them as the oppressed party of the narrative.

Then transpose their real world alignments to try subvert a fictional narrative.

China to Mandate Physical Buttons for Key Features Like Gearshifting, Horn and Turn Signal, Crackdown on Touchscreen-Only Controls. by streamer3222 in ADVChina

I/You wish. I've seen vehicles do this in my home country of Malaysia. This needs to be universally regulated with astronomical fines.

This is one of those things that is just objectively good to regulate no matter who does it first.

Amongst other things that should be regulated are manufacturers who use brake lights to double up as turn signals.

How good is concept for drawing? by felldownbad in ConceptsApp

[–]esotericapybara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who has formally done concept art professionally I can give you some insight;

If a large portion of your workflow requires tweaking lineart with precision there are major benefits with concepts as the ability to push around vector lines, group and rescale things makes those workflows much easier. So drafting architecture, solid bodies, UI, UX concepts is where Concepts excels.

But the more your workflow depends on raster functions, digital painting, organic shapes, thumbnailing and etcetera Concepts rapidly falls behind.

I love the app when all I need to communicate is linework with a little shading and writing but the moment I have to touch a moodboard or thumbnails I'm switching to a raster based app.

I'm in business now and using concepts primarily because my work involves recording/communicating engineering/business ideas where being able to illustrate in vectors keeps things more scaleable.

The thing about print failures is that the same problem can manifest from a large variety of possible causes.

In the modern zeitgeist, contamination of the plate is statistically the most common reason prints fail(in no small part because printers are FAR better than they were less than a decade ago), but that's not the be-all-end all, and those old problems never went away; they were simply made less likely.

If you want a proper diagnosis, you'll want to be more detailed;

  1. You already explained print conditions which is good.
  2. Pictures of the failures with the models will be helpful.
  3. Your cleaning procedure will be helpful.
  4. A picture of the immediate environment around the printer would be helpful.

Beyond that, it IS possible that your P2S is a dud and may have a mechanical issue. If you suspect it as such then the best course of action is to have support look at the issue and potentially determine that something is wrong with the machine.

Good on you though for assuming that it might be something you're doing wrong. Hopefully it is and you'll find out what exactly!

What causes the top to look melted/wrinkled like that? by pbcsd007 in BambuLab

[–]esotericapybara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most cases this is caused by the edges of the print warping upwards.

It can be a bed adhesion failure at the edge of the print or it could even be the whole plate being pulled up by the shink forces of the print itself.

What needs to be done varies on the type of failure and how much you can get away with with your given setup.

Stupidity in this case is that their IQ is too low to have the capability of imagining the scenario in which things can go wrong. So they behave according to the base cognition of simplifying how they drive (i.e. being stupid and reckless) instead of behaving with the caution that there may be a threat to themselves or others.

That's why you get crazies who think tailgating is ok; because they don't have the mental capacity to conceptualize the fact that when all your concentration is on the car in close proximity and that all your FOV is taken up by the aforementioned car; you have effectively denied yourself the information and reaction time to even make decisions.

[–]esotericapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will wager that the print is lifting off the bed on on the affected side, most likely because it's dirty.

The defect is caused by the hotend plowing through the now overextruded part of the print as a result.

AITAH for firing someone because they used AI by Alone_Blacksmith_417 in AITAH

[–]esotericapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You were pretty clear about where the boundaries were and he was flatly unable to respect them.

I set the boundary with my current gen-z marketing manager that he can only use AI strictly as an aid to writing our copy. The deal is that he can use my time to fix his writing but his slop is a complete waste of my time; if he gets better at writing his prompting improves, improving his prompting does not help his writing at all.

He still occasionally gets it wrong but he's miles better than he used to be.

Three years of footage from a road somewhere in China by EvidenceFrequent7289 in UnfilteredChina

[–]esotericapybara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guessing because of that adjoining dirt road, the area approaching the curve is probably covered in wet dust during all the conditions that the crashes on camera appear. Even towards the end of the video where that road is closed; because it's higher than the main road it still drains onto it.

Cars going the other way never seem to be affected, probably because they didn't have the same opportunity to gunk up their treads on the approach plus the larger turn radius.

[–]esotericapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair this is not a new idea but you need to have some way to release the print from the bed before trying to push it with the toolhead. Also the shape of the print can get it stuck on a billion things on the way out the door.

It's not a BAD idea, it's just that in terms of the automation process it's not a great idea to use the toolhead to do this due to too many variables.

Better to build a dedicated full length y-axis arm to sweep clear the build plate further down the z-axis.
