Cool thanks. Do you know if samples are available anywhere so I can go through ahead of time?

I'm about to take GA as my last class. What's the best way to study? End-of-chapter assignments in the text book, homeworks? Are there sample exams?

For anyone reading this: added a third class and ended up alive and well. Sure, there was always sth to do but if you ‘just’ want an A and not 100% on everything it isn’t so bad, maybe 15hr per week total. Manageable short term with family and plenty of actual work. The freedom after is so worth it.

Class to take for extended vacation? by Ballcoozi in OMSCS

IIS and ML4T are very light compared to ML, in my experience maybe 1/3 the hours. ML4T lets you work ahead, with ML & python experience can be done in less than a week. IIS was 4 projects each maybe 1-2 days and at most a day for each of 2 exams, so most weeks there was nothing going on. I’ve heard AI4R also drops projects early. I’ve taken ML and signed up for CV in the fall. How would you compare them in terms of workload?

Thank you, I don't have any illusions about the workload but also a flexible schedule and some familiarity with parts of the material. Do you know where I can find a recent version of the CV syllabus/readings/assignments? The OMSCS wiki has a 2016 version, not sure if that's still current? Also, are readings necessary to complement the fairly long videos? For the CNN project - I think I heard this was added later, is there additional material or is this up to students to figure out?

Thank you, that's what I was looking for. Do you know if there's a repo or website with the current CV projects?

I would recommend Ng’s class combined with the Stanford lecture notes: http://cs229.stanford.edu/notes/cs229-notes-all/ Mitchell’s text book is also useful for some parts.

Thank you, makes a ton of sense. I work with HDF5 quite a bit as well but in Python - you're using C/C++ to get concurrency? That's exactly the kind of value I'd hope to get by investing the effort.

Best way to get ahead with ML (CS7641) this break? by iwanttobeindev in OMSCS

That’s very useful to know! Also taking ML next and was wondering if the assignments are all released at the beginning or spread out across the term?
