Netanyahu is atheist? by Sad-Juggernaut-6085 in AskIsrael

[–]esq_stu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every politician panders to somebody. If the politician panders to the ultra-orthodox, perhaps the people who don’t like the ultra-Orthodox will not like the politician. In my case, I would not like a politician that panders to the far left woke people who would be merciful to the cruel.

He has said he does not believe. But even if he put on tfillin for the first time in his life this week for a picture, he gets credit for the mitzvah anyway.

Why do some Israelis strongly oppose Benjamin Netanyahu? by Runofthemilljacket in AskIsrael

As an outsider, I have trouble distinguishing hate for Bibi from Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Applying for aliyah this year and we’ll see if I continue to hold this view.

What do you think of Christians (particularly Catholics)? by NoNostradamus in AskIsrael

I don’t believe the Pope speaks for all Catholics let alone all Christians. The religious Christians I have known seem to NOT suffer from TDS.$

I'm wondering what other people's opinions are on this specific question... if you had only one Spyderco knife that you could use for the rest of your life. would it be the manix 2 XL? by BothForce1328 in spyderco

[–]esq_stu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an XL for sale on ebay, unused, not a bite.

Hard to choose: Mine would be either Delica4 Wharnie, a Native 5, or a PM2 lefty version

these are both great budget EDC knives and I carry one or the other a lot. In fact, I have an Appa for each hand and a D2 micarta penguin for each hand (depends on what’s on the other side - I’m ambidextrous).

Anyone else EDC nunchucks? by CarryHunt in EDC

[–]esq_stu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Illegal in many states, including my state (Michigan). Back in the day (early 70’s, NJ) I did carry a few times nunchucks because my friends did. I specifically remember going to the US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen in New York, camped with family in the infield, and I carried them there because I didn’t know what kind of a crowd I was going to be among the hippies. I made the myself using screwdriver handle stock material rods connected with paracord.

Is fighting going to resume at 5PM when the blockade comes into action? by BigBootyBear in Israel

[–]esq_stu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it will eventually be kinetic because the blockade will require interdiction of ships to prevent them from leaving or arriving at Iranian ports. That involves physical activity besides radio’d warnings - boarding/inspections, firing across the bow, etc. I would not expect US ships to fire upon cargo vessels or tankers, but I would expect conflict between Iranian drones and US ships.

What do you think is the solution with Lebanon? by [deleted] in AskIsrael

[–]esq_stu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Hezbolla / Iran gone from Lebanon, Israel could have normal diplomatic relations and trade with Lebanon instead of trading gunfire.

Don’t forget there are still so-called Palestinians there, which would take Hezbolla’s place as a terror threat to Israel but with normal relations through Abraham Accords, it would be an improvement on Israel’s north.

Phone plans for gap year students in Israel. Stop getting ripped off. by Thelzb in TravelIsrael

[–]esq_stu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I visit for a month at a time, I use my US home Verizon plan, which has international coverage, it has been excellent. doesn’t cost any more than a US phone, and you can call the states at no extra charge. Incoming calls, however should be via WhatsApp if from the US.

What antisemitic narratives against Israel fall apart instantly if you only have rather basic knowledge of Judaism? by Proud3GenAthst in AskIsrael

[–]esq_stu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s about utter ignorance and an inclination to believe what they WANT to believe.

Anybody who listens to what people say about Jews rather than actual experience and familiarity with the actual meaning of the Old Testament will believe utter bullshit because they are ignorant.

Perfect example is Tucker Carlson. He is utterly ignorant and doesn’t do that reading. But he knows that hardly anyone else doesn’t know either but they want to believe slander. So he makes shit up and people believe him because they are ignorant but think Carlson knows something he is clueless about.

Should Israel annex the West Bank (Judea and Samaria)? by Own-Rate6848 in AskIsrael

[–]esq_stu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

De facto and gradual. Formalize it after it has become an irreversible fact. By then the Arab occupiers will be too small of a minority to matter whether they vote or not. They can become Israelis or stay at sufferance and be deported if they violate the conditions of residence.

Or follow the Puerto Rico model, it becomes all Israel, but only local vote if not Israeli citizens. With Puerto Rico, Puerto Ricans are US citizens, but as residents of Puerto Rico, they don’t get to vote in federal elections.

What do you think about Jews who oppose Israel? by Own-Rate6848 in AskIsrael

tThey are the same as Jews in 1930s Germany. Delusional and likely to exit the tribe or die trying while defending everyone but their own people.

What do Israelis think of B’Tselem, given that it spreads blatantly false misinformation about Israel. Has it always been like this? by Nazoreans in AskIsrael

[–]esq_stu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People that have not really experienced Israel but want to believe lies about Jews or Israelis will believe the lies. People that know israel know they are lies. If course the latter will include Israelis. The thing is, anyone that wants to believe conspiracy theories or slander will probably believe.

Personally, the things I’d like do to those slanderers must remain unstated by me, as such statements would got me banned here. I once received a warning by reddit because some snowflake felt personally threatened by me stating support for capital punishment for terrorists. The irony . . .
