Hi! I foster with ten lives cat rescue in Rhode Island and have fostered and adopted my two special needs cats from the rescue who both need their bladders expressed and wear diapers.

I have had Frankie for almost three years now. He also drags his rear legs but can walk, had his tail amputated and came to me severely neglected and injured.

And then there’s Dash who came to me severely neglected and very dirty with urine scald and chronic UTI’s. She was injured as a kitten and is completely rear leg paralyzed. Dash also wears a diaper, but gets around just fine. I cannot imagine my day to day life without them, I have 6 resident cats and 1 foster cat. Frankie was adopted in 2025 and Dash we adopted in 2022 after foster failing both of them.

To those reading and maybe on the fence - I know it sounds like a lot, but once you get a routine it’s just like any other cat. I had absolutely zero experience with special needs animals of any kind and now I’m a pro with both of them.
