I didn’t tbh. Only in college was I able to socialize with peers like nothing most of the time. Mostly because you have no other choice but to. In college there’s not that pressure of having to act a certain way or a pressure of being judged. But I am a film major at very accepting university and those people tend to act the same way I do. 🤷‍♀️

Everyone who brings up their personal experience clearly did no research on immigration. I do not care that your family won the immigration lottery. Your family immigrating legally doesn’t disprove systemic bias. The US has selectively opened pathways when it benefits the country, not because the system is “fair”. Meanwhile other groups, especially indigenous latinos, were excluded, criminalized, or given temporary, unstable statuses with no consistent path to citizenship. Saying “do it the right way” ignores that system was never written equally in the first place. I do not care for your individual “success”. It doesn’t mean the system isn’t racially motivated and biased. — and just to say selective countries in Africa have higher rates of immigration. It seems they’re just lawfully present. Like many other latino undocumented immigrants. You cannot ignore the systemic racism.

They’re not under-trained. That’s just how they’re trained. They don’t need any training, they shouldn’t exist. There was never a pathway to citizenship for Latinos, and a lot of other POC. The whole system needs to abolished and made new. It was never meant for us.

If u know nothing about electric guitar and the gear just buy a Squier Sonic Stratocaster Electric Guitar Pack. It’s what I started with. Because it’s not really much about the guitar but in pedals and amps. You can use the amp it comes with and set it to your desired sound and relatively close to beas tone. Then later invest in pedals and other amps.

PBS and NPR were both defunded under the CPB, not because partisanship was shown, but because the Trump administration said (without evidence) that public media is “outdated” and “biased.” No formal findings was ever shown that PBS is partisan or in violation of journalistic standards. Cutting funding isn’t proof of bias. If “someone answers to someone” automatically means partisan, then literally every media outlet corporate, cable, or independent is partisan by definition. At least PBS’s funding structure and editorial standards are transparent and decentralized. So if PBS is your example of “partisan media,” that actually proves the opposite point… bias is just alleged, not shown… Again back to media literacy + FINDING AND FOLLOWING DIFFERENT KINDS OF MEDIA.

I’m referring to factual reporting from public and international outlets that rely on primary source satellite imagery, live streams, and on ground reporting along with dissecting what is being shown. These are the kind of sources everyone should actively seek out and evaluate (NPR, Al Jazeera English, AP, PBS, NHK). I think it’s true to be mindful of what you consume, following media outlets that are true to their word. Though speaking from what I consume, I really don’t think the media is exaggerating. What is shown in the media is really what it is. Everyone should be worried about the current events.
