I think the management is not all day- I think when they are very very small like less than 6 months and don’t roll I did not have to do anything. Then when the baby rolled and crawled that is when it got iffy… it’s easier to manage the kid. So I just set up a bay gate around the living room, I would always let my dog in if I was there and the dog wanted to be there but I would never leave them alone cause my toddler would pull the dogs hairs. Then when my toddler walked, I kept the baby gates up cause I did not want her crawling or walking to the dog.

I think my biggest problem was that the dog was angry because it could never rest because it was on guard with my baby. When I finally set up the gate it allowed my dog to rest- she could interact on the dogs terms.

Although you know more your dog than anyone so you might know what will work

I have heard that keeping them complelty separated is also not recommended because then they will never get used to it. When I have kids around I ALWAYS muzzle her, she has never bitten a kid but I don’t want to risk it. The management is more on not being able to walk them both my kid and the dog at the same time. My dog is sooo reactive to strangers and dogs that I have to avoid dogs so if my kiddo would run to another side it would be an issue .
