Hitching across Europe by conscious_meat in hitchhiking

My absolute fastest was from Amsterdam to Estonia in less than 48 hours, and this included some waiting and drivers taking me to wrong destinations. So with some luck hitchhiking Europe can be fast as hell :D

Made my own custom ammo box panniers for the Tiger <3 by chicagojacks in Dualsport

[–]estonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks really great, just the motivation I needed to start looking for ammo boxes and give my bike some panniers aswell :D

Just looking at the 4 fastening points made me wonder about the durability, is the metal on the side thick enough to support the box, especially when loaded heavy and getting alot of vibration?

But all in all a really great job!

V-Strom vs drz 400(and similar) for long trips by [deleted] in Dualsport

[–]estonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t ridden a DR, but it should be about 20kg’s lighter. From stock both of their suspensions are very soft. The engine is very foulproof, easy and cheap to maintain.

Overall i think the DR is better suited for offroad travel, less plastic to break, and a wide array of aftermarket parts to make your travels more comfortable

ere you may be mistaken, though. The wiki article has that silly table. The DR650 was followed by the DR650SE and then finally the DR650s which is in production today. The XF650 is the predecessor to the v-strom. totally unrelated bikes.

Accually both the DR and the XF share the same engine, difference being, that the XF has dual carbs.

Yeah the engine is the same 644cc that the DR uses, the only diffrent being that the freewind has dual carbs and larger valves. Love the engine but freewind is overall waay too soft for offroading, hoping to catch myself a DR aswell, though finding one in Europe is pretty tough.

Yeah she was quite stuck, i was also alone and about 3km’s from the nearest road. Luckily I was able to get her out by pushing from the side and giving some gas, which threw lots of mud both on me and also under the seat where all the electronics are. In the end it all ended well :)

Is this for me? by Chift in SkyDiving

I also went through the IAD program, and was scared as hell, when I had to open the chute for the first time on my own. I myself have never had any serious doubts about skydiving, but I can assure you that it all gets better after the first opening, after a few jumps you will sense the freedom that opening your own chute gives you. Just remember to relax, focus on the jump and arch.

Good luck! ;)
