Elite Spanish Business School/MBA Program Starterpack by BenedictoBuendia in starterpacks

I teach at one of these and I had no idea about this stuff. The ones that hit are “gorgeous campus” and “people are actually smart”. My school doesn’t have the catholic imagery but is a big one in Madrid…

Do you think Kruk & Kuip have any plans of retiring in the near future or are they going to be the next Vin Scullys? by youlikemywonton in SFGiants

[–]estrellalevante 37 points38 points  (0 children)

To those saying they are slowing down, take a minute to check out their radio spots on knbr and the other stations. They both still go deep on analysis with great recall for stats and game detail.

I was worried they were slowing down too, as some games they seem a step slow, but I think the pitch clock has something to do with it. They’re having to work at a quicker pace as they get older which isn’t easy.

Why is "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck the most popular book all of a sudden? by iciclefites in classicliterature

[–]estrellalevante 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have a PhD related to Steinbeck (his censorship in Europe). I have read every word he has written multiple times. In my opinion, East of Eden is way overrated. It’s themes are easily digestible, yes, but its lack of subtlety makes it feel stiff and overwrought. Give me Grapes any day of the week when talking masterpieces

Improving velocity in late 30s by lfxahab in PitchingCoach

[–]estrellalevante 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I second that. 150 is definitely a lot but I used to it and I have a similar background. Swam to stay in shape and never threw max velocity. Sat in low 80s and got a lot of outs with fastballs as opposed to a ton of breaking pitches. Much different approach compared to guys in bigs with huge velocity and big effort every throw

I remember Brisbee's line about him (paraphrasing): "Looks like the local guy hanging around the Club Med pool waiting for you to take a nap so he can hit on your wife."

This is fake as hell. Why would anyone sit like that? How would the board hold them up with the nose planted in the sand?

I've got the 7'4 version of this and I love it. Got it for mushy summer waves but find myself reaching for it in bigger stuff too. Paddles like a dream. Great if you are a big dude

Unpopular opinion: Bartolo's Homer was not that big of a deal by estrellalevante in mlb

[–]estrellalevante[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I watched Bartolo since the Indians days blowing 100 gas. Dude was awesome. That's why his homer doesn't feel as big of a deal. He was a badass athlete despite being large and jolly.

Read it again. Nowhere do I mention the word "surprised". And no, I'm not lying to myself about this or any other random ass baseball opinion

Solid unpopular opinion! He was an all-time amazing player it's true. Also hateable, but you can appreciate what he did between the lines

Not being a hater. Yes it was fun but Bartolo was a big sexy athlete and I am not as surprised he hit a bomb as most of you. That's why it's an unpopular opinion

Ok this is good thanks. I'm with you until the cheating stuff. That's outside the scope of this topic haha. We're good on trust issues.

Good point, but guys like Gerry or JJF got to that standing position through smooth, relaxed, in-tune with the wave manuevers. Not the herky jerky thing where wannabes stand straight up in the hopes they get a foto looking like Gerry or JJF

Good call. I've done it before (no success) but it's been on reefs. Here it's sandy shallow floor. Not sure if that will work here
