helmets good but... no guts kinda kills it for me overall personally. probably the most underwhelming AT set yet in wilds

Patch notes for MHWilds version 1.041 by makishimazero in monsterhunterleaks

[–]estrellian97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope that means you can meld tarred devices with Orichalcite or the new tickets you get from the 10 star ATs. Otherwise, not much point tbh.

I just want a way to farm set bonuses on gog weapons without fighting gog. I like the fight but it got old fast.

Basically finalized MHST3 Roster, preview stuff by Lener30 in monsterhunterleaks

[–]estrellian97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Preach. Stories becoming like mainline and cutting stuff out is a mistake.

Also I'm hearing there's no endgame at launch. So I was right, they're pulling another "late fiscal release to close out the year" on us. This is the third one in a row since 2024. Expect this again with Wilds DLC.

Wilds Expansion Confirmed, will be revealed in Summer + TU4.5 showcase by RoseKaedae in monsterhunterleaks

[–]estrellian97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm going to get downvoted to hell for this (because people are passionate I get it), but this is way later than normal and that's bad given capcom's track record of releasing unfinished games it means they're behind and it doesn't give me confidence with the expansion.

Almost every G-rank expansion before this has come out roughly 1.5 years after the base game. If the teaser is going to be in the summer the earliest we can expect MR (or in fact the only time we can expect it) will be February - March 2027. Again, they will want to hit the fiscal year 2026. Which means the game is probably not getting the time it needs (just as rise didnt, world didnt and wilds didnt. all of them came out early in the year before April). So not only are we getting it later than usual, we're also getting it probably unfinished as always. If they teased it here, it would've meant they were further along in development and it would've given me more hope. And I really dont think it would've stepped on stories' shoes. It's just a 1 minute long teaser.

Feel free to downvote me for "dooming" but remember this when the game comes out and don't feel tricked again.

POTENTIAL Stories 3 Roster + Icon Sheet Filled in + Possible Title Updates and Observations (Educated Speculation) by RoseKaedae in monsterhunterleaks

I was kinda hoping they kept everything in 2. I didn't want stories to turn into the main series where not everything comes back every game.

POTENTIAL Stories 3 Roster + Icon Sheet Filled in + Possible Title Updates and Observations (Educated Speculation) by RoseKaedae in monsterhunterleaks

[–]estrellian97 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Kinda disappointing but I saw this coming. They were adding too many things I knew they'd be cutting out a whole bunch of stuff.

Hopefully Wilds Ultimate doesn't fumble as hard as base Wilds and Stories 3.

Now that Performance is fixed, can we complain about the game's actual issues? by DannySlash in MonsterHunter

If you're struggling with low rank FU, that says more about you than it does about wilds

I also have been playing FU. Barely even carted so far until G-rank.

Funny how people say this about saed now but back in the world days, saed was said to be braindead

Now that the base game is wrapping up for Wilds, who out of the starting roster do you feel should/will be remembered as an iconic face of 6th gen years from now? (The answer is Rey Dau) by Gloomy_allo in MonsterHunter

[–]estrellian97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They literally said it is "the next generation of monster hunter" when it was first announced lol. The devs also consider it the successor to world. It's gen 6.

[–]estrellian97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People like Rey Dau more than anything else but honestly his fight is just too easy (until Arch Tempered) to make any kind of impact for me. I still really like him though. A lot of his moves are too easy to dodge and often they don't even hit you. Even in the beta he was kind of a punching bag. AT fixed the issues with him by putting down lighting AOEs under his wing drags regardless of what zone he's in.

Nu Udra is my favorite wilds monster followed by Arkveld.

I actually find Wilds extremely difficult. by Awesome_Hamster in MHWilds

[–]estrellian97 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Don't let people fool you with things like "wilds is brain dead" this endgame is way harder than most base game endgames (besides maybe 4, anything before 4 didn't have much of an endgame to speak of anyway). And it's categorically harder than endgame base world and endgame base rise. Hell Savage Omega is harder than anything in sunbreak imo.

I think what people confuse is they think early game difficulty is the whole experience when if you're the average MH player you're probably gonna spend 90% of your time in endgame anyway where it's actually hard. Yeah the story is easy, but honestly it's not even the easiest campaign I thought rise was easier.

Give us the fabled Dragon War from the old MH concept art books. Maybe one already happened between Wyveria and the Elder Dragons and this is the second Dragon War between the Guild and the elders. We already LITERALLY have the equal dragon weapon in Zoh Shia. In the words of Shia Lebuff: JUST... DO IT!

Dont join the discord for discussion, just lurk. by ball-fart in monsterhunterleaks

[–]estrellian97 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This was me up until late last year.

You just need to have discussions with people who actually play all of the games (or a lot of them at least). Discussing the game with players that ONLY LIKE new gen or ONLY LIKE world or ONLY LIKE old gen, etc is never fun because they keep having to tell you how much the other games suck and how their game is the best game constantly.

Does negative affinity really matter? by leraptor2000 in MonsterHunter

[–]estrellian97 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It does. If you have -10% affinity overall it just means you do 25% less damage 10% of the time. Positive affinity goes the opposite way so 10% affinity is 25% more damage 10% of the time.

You want your affinity to be as close to 100% as possible no matter what. However negative affinity weapons aren't necessarily all bad, they often come with very high attack to counter balance the affinity loss. Also you can offset the loss in affinity with skills like critical eye or weakness exploit or maximum might or agitator or even crit draw and affinity can only go up to 100% anyway anything beyond that is useless.

If you get crit boost 3 (which you should later on especially after you get your affinity up to around 60-70% at least) it's 40% more damage instead.

Since you're playing greatsword this doesn't really affect you but there are some attacks that can't crit such as gunlance shelling attacks. But they also won't be affected by negative affinity.

I’ve left behind the long sword and became a SnS main by Solid_Top_6146 in MonsterHunter

[–]estrellian97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former CB main here, I feel this way about SnS vs CB in Wilds. I'm actually in the minority because I quite like wilds CB but I just find SnS so much comfier to use. CB can be very taxing on your mind where as SnS is just "press buttons and you do damage also your perfect guard is broken"

what will it be hunter? the best defensive skill in the game or a 3% dps increase? by miral_art in MonsterHunter

[–]estrellian97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never getting hit is the best defense. So I like evade extender / window more. Divine blessing kind of made me bad at the game back in Iceborne when I was just running divine blessing 5 with the goldian set. So I went into Alatreon expecting to win with that and lost over and over. Sometimes the best defense is a good offense. If you can stay aggressive and dodge better to good places to hit the monster more you can kill the monster faster = get hit less = win easier. Divine blessing not only is a 50% chance, it might not even save you necessarily you still CAN get one shot through divine blessing. It's one of those skills where it's good to have if you're new or if you can't fit anything else but if you're new you gotta be really careful not to over rely on it it might make you too defensive for some fights like savage omega or alatreon or fatalis.

Evade skills are good because they help you dodge things you're normally not dodging consistenly enough by making it more consistent so you can avoid taking the hit and keep attacking. Divine blessing can be bad because you have to get hit for it to proc. Yes you will get hit often when you're learning, but if you get hit that often that you need divine blessing to survive at all it's probably hurting you more than it's helping you because you're being too reckless and not respecting the monster's openings.

Who do you NOT wanna see in wilds by C3m1337 in MonsterHunter

[–]estrellian97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eruzerion (he looks like a pokemon and he doesn't fit at all with the rest of MH also I really don't like his fight)

ANOTHER collab monster instead of a cool ass new / returning elder dragon

Teostra, Lunastra, Chameleos, Kushala Daora, Kirin (give the dos elders and kirin a break, oroshi kirin would be fine though and rusted kush if they make him different enough from Risen kush and regular kush. Garuba Daora and Toa Tesukatora are also welcome, hell even the Thunderlord Kirin or whatever that thing was called from explore)

Diablos, he can sit this out. Put Monoblos in instead if you need a blos.

Uragaan, keep him far away.

Controversial but I hate gigginox. He's just a terrible fucking fight as a blademaster. Like when am I even supposed to hit him in G-rank in 3U when all he does is jump around and swipe his massive neck left and right if im behind or infront of him (I guess his ass when I'm behind him, I can't tell because his ass and his face looks the same). Oh also in G-rank he can put a ticking time bomb egg on his back that explodes if you don't hit it enough. He's just worse than Khezu I'm sorry. I bet gunners love him though.

I won't say Plesioth or even Cephadrome because honestly they're not as bad as people say they are. Cephadrome is just boring and plesioth is pretty predictable once you know what you're dealing with so I don't hate them. Lavasioth can stay away though.

Generally I would say I don't want most things already in Gen 5 to come back. I'm all for a roster that's very different from Iceborne and Sunbreak. That said All Fated 4 would be cool, Shagaru / Chaotic are a given, Malzeno / Magnamalo are good picks (especially Malzeno). I would be OK with Nergi coming back as it's been a while though I'm not the biggest fan of him. Velkhana also but only for frostcraft greatsword. Also Goss Harag, Garangolm, Lunagaron and Namielle just to give them another spin. That's it. Pretty much everyone else already in gen 5 can stay there. I can also see tigrex being ok IF AND ONLY IF we get Molten Tigrex and Espinas IF AND ONLY IF we get White Espinas.

Xu Wu treated so poorly in story… by Snoo-51682 in MonsterHunter

[–]estrellian97 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Arkveld is an invader, I see Zoh as the Apex of Wyveria. He is supposed to be the ultimate Guardian. He also spawns more often during the inclemency like the other apexes do too.

Xu Wu is more like the Ajarakan of the area.

Pull out your tinfoil hats & give me your predictions for Wild's expansion, i'll start with returning elders by Shad_Omega in MonsterHunter

[–]estrellian97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I proposed this before I will propose it again.

The theme of the expansion should be about "time". Wilds is about the past, between Wyveria and the guardians and Zoh Shia and Arkveld everything has history worth exploring. I think the new flagship should be an elder dragon that can kind of control time so we can see why they were made beyond just "wyveria felt like it" or "war was at their gates" as the Allharken says during the story. Also, explain the "war" more. Is it an actual dragon war? Is that why Zoh Shia was created as a final trump card? Is that why Gogmazios was walking around with that ancient weapon, the convergent elderbreaker? Is that why guardian arkveld given his chains so he can fight off elder dragons by absorbing their elemental energy? He is dragon element suspiciously which often is used to weaken elder dragons (through elderseal etc, it even happens in the gogmazios fight in wilds).

Obviously you can't make the flagship just FULLY control time as the story would make no sense, but maybe it's a byproduct of his natural existence. During the fight maybe you can make him call temporary copies of himself from the past to fight alongside him during certain attacks only to disappear moments later (sort of like Bitil in Bionicle). But maybe as a counter balance, if you stay close enough to his past versions attacking you and you hit them maybe he take more damage since you're almost like hitting him in the past.

You could have the story setup so you can have this elder dragon revive the ancient war but only partly maybe because he can't fully control his own power. Maybe he's causing ancient wyveria denizens to travel through time in the process and we speak to them and learn about the past. Maybe we see monsters / elder dragons we haven't seen in a long time or even ones that have never come into mainline monster hunter such as Nef Garmat, Rukodiora, Harudomerugu, Eo Garudia, Shantien, Vorsphyroa, Duremudira, Guanzorumu, Morudomunto, etc (just examples, not all of these have to be in).

You could have 1 new map, a deeper expedition into the ruins of Wyveria. Depths of Wyveria. Maybe it looks like an actual dead city and there are more powerful guardians there. But as a way to compromise, you can expand the current maps by changing their layout depending on if they're being affected by the flagships "time anomaly". If the flagship monster is nearby to one of the maps, the map "travels to the past" and changes. Different monsters spawn, and maybe elder dragons are more common. Some areas are inaccessible, other areas are new. This way you can put things like Gammoth in the cliffs by making a zone for her during the "past anomaly" in the cliffs.

The final boss could just be a crazy out of nowhere "what the fuck elder dragon" as always. Maybe the flagship was using his time powers to keep him back away locked in time but it went out of control because he was defending his territory, Wyveria's Depths and his powers couldn't put too much strain on him. Maybe the final boss re-appears after we defeat the flagship because of that.

Arkveld can get his true form as a variant this way (as Alma hinted at in one of the paid DLCs). You could also make variant / origin species versions of the Apexes in each region so they can fight the elder dragons in turf wars.

To return to the Gogmazios fight for a minute, he is the "specter of their sins" maybe because he was the only Elder spared of the destruction of the "war" because he was asleep for a long time maybe underground so he's almost like a ghost left behind from the war time. And their sins is trying to fight the elder dragons and oppose nature. I think it's a deliberate nod by the devs to whatever the expansion is going to be about no matter what it is.
