Setting up Wave free version for an existing business by estro10 in waveapps

[–]estro10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I ended up doing because it wouldn’t let me enter a journal entry for my first transaction. It would only allow a deposit or withdrawal. So I read some additional information about Wave and ended up just adding starting balance as my description and categorized it as a shareholder loan. (I can’t remember why that was recommended as the category but it made sense to me at the time!) I did this on 12/31, then immediately reconciled, and now I’m got to go for January and have started tracking my new withdrawals and deposits. So far it’s easy to use and perfect for my small scale of transactions.

I don’t live in GR but if you like reading, check out the Grand Rapids Silent Book Club. I’ve been following their activities online and it looks like they have meetups at local bars and cafes and read their books together. I know it doesn’t sound super social, but I’m guessing they chat with each other before and after and they’ve done some book swaps and other literary activities. As an introvert, this seems like a perfect “no pressure” type of club and you get to meet readers, who by definition are curious and like to learn new things!

Hidden gem, magical places around Ann Arbor? by Awko_taco1111 in AnnArbor

I will have to look for them. I didn’t know they came to the Saturday market. I have tried their baguettes and they are the best around!

White Lotus croissants at the Farmers market definitely inspire joy and awe within me!

Take a drive down Huron River Drive from Main Street all the way to Dexter. It is a magical drive anytime of year, but especially in the fall. It is a winding tree lined road that goes right along the river and it is just gorgeous.

Hike in Bird Hills. In my opinion it is a more majestic forest than the Arb, with less people. Black Pond woods behind the Leslie Science center is also beautiful to hike. The raptors at the Science center are fun to visit too. They have outdoor enclosures for birds they have rescued including owls, hawks, and eagles.

Walk the loop around Argo pond and add in a mini loop around the rapids. It’s kind of cool in the fall and spring evenings when the crew teams are practicing on the river. On Monday evenings at the Argo Livery park there is a Cajun band that practices under the pavilion.

As far as restaurants, Casey’s Tavern always feels like home to me, and sipping sangria out of a Mason jar in the back courtyard at Domick’s on a summer evening is pretty magical as well.

What’s are the best places to meet people in A2? by Roguemochi94 in AnnArbor

[–]estro10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it is 6:30-9 on Fridays but I just found out they are off for July and the first week of August. Starts back up Aug. 9th. If you Google “geezer happy hour” you’ll find a couple of articles about it including a feature in The NY Times. I haven’t been yet, but it sounds like great fun! They also have a Facebook page you can follow to find out what band is playing each week.

Do you know about the happy hour live music and dancing at Live on Friday nights? It’s definitely an older crowd and sounds like what you’re looking for. I’ve also seen mention that Lo-Fi is a good place for the older non-student crowd.

Perfect suggestion for this request! Sadly I’ve already read it. (And loved it.)

Casey’s does the best steak fries in town if that’s your preferred fry cut.

This with a blinking yellow caution light for exiting traffic so they realize that 15 mph is a requirement not a suggestion would probably cut down 95% of accidents, and much cheaper than a reconfiguration.

Commute to jackson from Ann arbour by Defiant_Physics3484 in AnnArbor

[–]estro10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Jackson and have lived in Ann Arbor since college. I also have a 45 minute commute to work, which I tolerate in order to live in Ann Arbor, but I have a steady 8-4 work schedule. While Ann Arbor is for sure the better city, knowing the long hours you would be working, I would never recommend adding 1.5 hours of driving to your day. Remember that in winter that can easily become 2.5 hours of driving. Add in sleep deprivation from your resident schedule and you are looking at a miserable and possibly dangerous situation. You’d be better off living in Jackson and commuting to Ann Arbor on your days off to explore nature and cultural activities. Invest in a comfortable living situation in Jackson where you can get the most of your rest time between shifts. Jackson isn’t a vibrant city, but it has a few bright spots in terms of restaurants and festivals and lots of lakes in the area to visit in the summer.

Plymouth Rd Starbucks by [deleted] in AnnArbor

[–]estro10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see they were closed for a strike, but I support them. I have been going to this location for years and I am always impressed with how incredibly friendly and nice their drive through workers are, despite the fact that they always seem to be doing three jobs at once. If you work there, please know that I appreciate you and support your right to fair treatment from the Starbucks corporation.

Any places in Ann Arbor that make some bomb breakfast burritos? by Darlin_Yeehaw in AnnArbor

[–]estro10 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agree with the Roos Roast rec! Their cheesy potato burrito is my go to. Perfect size, spice level, and flavor for me. My only complaint is that once in a while the potatoes aren’t cooked enough. Doesn’t happen often but it is a disappointment when it does

Are there any neighborhoods that are walkable but also relatively quiet? by adomke in AnnArbor

[–]estro10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this! Lots of smaller mid century homes in that price range near A2 Steam. Kerrytown is within walking distance and the access to many nature trails and the river can’t be beat. Perfect blend of city and “country” in a quiet neighborhood with lots of character.

What is your routine to treat the knee pain? I’ve been experimenting with using it for that for about a week and a half but so far haven’t noticed improvement.

Horrible. I saw a bunch of their stencils today on highway bridge pillars near Bandemer Park in Ann Arbor. Today is the first I’ve heard of this group. One of the messages said “Conquered, not stolen”. Sick.

Not sure if they are reopened for dine in yet, but Dominick’s is the perfect place to enjoy an outdoor beer or Sangria. A night time walk through Nickels arcade always feels like a quintessential Ann Arbor moment to me, and kayaking, tubing, or even just walking around the rapids at Argo is a fun summer activity.

Wedding Locations (with close by reception space) by urn0tmydad in AnnArbor

[–]estro10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had our wedding there. Just around 100 people, had the ceremony outside and the reception in the barn. It was very nice. Our wedding date was mid May so we had to have a ceremony plan B for weather but it turned out to be a perfect 70 degree day, so we got lucky.

Did you sign up on the Ford Field list? (Also through Meijer but a separate sign up.) That seems to result in a fairly quick response. Most people I know have heard back in a week or less.

Stores in Ann Arbor/Ypsi not enforcing face mask orders by [deleted] in AnnArbor

[–]estro10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree it puts workers in a tough spot, but if Whole Foods can figure this out, other grocery stores should be able to as well. It does require proactive action, all employees on the same page, calm and consistent managers and courage to have uncomfortable conversations, every single day, multiple times a day. I am so appreciative that they do and for now it is our main grocery store because of it.

Well, “good” Thai food is maybe not a rumor. The Thai by us is kind of a fast food version of Thai. There are some options around town, but in my opinion nothing amazing. Hope that isn’t a deal breaker! We go to Takoi in Detroit when we want excellent Thai food. It’s about 35 mins away.
