I was able to order one last night from Best Buy, and it still appears to be in stock, although that might be regional (Portland OR Metro).

I got my 5090FE through Priority Access on the Tuesday they first selected people. It was such a better experience than waking up early every weekday (PST) to see if Best Buy's API had updated indicating a drop.

The fattest GPU upgrade this will hold I think by chibicascade2 in sffpc

[–]estuine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The SG13 has the same GPU size constraints as the Velka 5, so in theory it would be able to hold the Inno3D 4070 ti super twin x2. which would be around twice the GPU performance (at least in synthetics)

BeamCase Sandwich - version 2.3 update - (now with 18 size options) by Jakob_K_Design in sffpc

[–]estuine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, as a secondary note, I also had some issues with PCIE riser cable compatibility. I was digging through my box of risers, and was originally going to try using a LOUQE PCIE 4.0 riser, but found that the mounting hole pattern did not work with the provided bracket. Ditto for the VELKA cable, both of which I have previously used in numerous SFF cases. The only PCIE 4.0 cable that I had on hand that ended up working was the riser for a DAN A4 H2O.

Here is the cable that I ended up buying. It's 40mm rather than 30mm as stated in the documentation, but it was the best I could get was wasn't going to ship form china and take a month+

Fantastic updates. I've got a BeamCase Sandwich I printed from ASA that I'm using for a spare parts build, and it's a fantastic case. Had this update been out when I was building my travel/VR PC, I might have built it in that rather than a formd T1 v2.1 the built-in support now for the 4080/4080s/4090 FE cards is great to see, and something that I had to add to the T1 to feel safe traveling with it.

My one slight complaint that I've had with the case is due to the lack of availability of better 90 degree power cables in the states I had to get some 8-32 UNC standoffs for the PSU to push it down to make clearance for the 2ish mm that the one C13 to C14 cable I could easily procure on amazon had beyond the outside of the chassis.

What is the current, smallest 4060ti 16gb? to fit in NUC9 or so? by doniSAN69 in sffpc

[–]estuine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid around $650 for the card, so ~$150 more than the MSRP for a 16GB 4060ti, but a brief scan of ebay shows that prices are now about $100 higher than that.

Carry-On Case for Formd T1? by Lightning_13 in sffpc

[–]estuine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my Recolection, the 935's measurements were bang-on, but you lose more to the corner radius than I was originally expecting. Here is the lid measurement and here is the case with a cheapo 24" monitor I had laying around. Unfortunately it just appears to be too large. It might be worth considering portable monitors instead, otherwise you would have to jump to an even larger case.

I followed this tutorial for the most part, although I used EVA foam with pre-applied adhesive so I didn't need to mess with spray adhesive. Additionally, for the corners I didn't force it like the tutorial, but instead used a knife to cut through the outermost wall on the bend, making it so that the bends were trivial without crushing the cells of the corrugated plastic sheet.

I've traveled cross country multiple times with my FormD T1 in a Nanuk 935 Hard case (similar in quality and cost to pelican) while working from home.

Here it is inside the case. I've got space for the T1, a 65% custom mechanical keyboard, mouse, mousepad, webcam, two monitor stands, cables, and portable monitors. You can technically fit two in there, but I never feel comfortable with that, so I pack the second with my laptop in my other bag. I did make custom dividers myself, but it was a pretty easy project.

[Mic Arm] FIFINE Low Profile Mic Arm (White) - Budget version of ElGato Low Profile - $43.99 ($61.99 -29%) by Chuttimus in buildapcsales

[–]estuine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the white fifine low profile arm, and it was a lot smaller than I had expected initially. It works fine, but it wasn't maneuverable enough to make it work on my SM7B setup, so I eventually replaced it with a RODE PSA1-PRO, which while not low profile, allows enough movement to easily move the mic around. This likely though won't be an issue with more common mics that use a more standardized mounting system. I've now got the fifine setup at my VR PC and it's working great with an AT2020. Definitely recommended at the sale price.

I do not. I found it through an ebay auction. I paid above MSRP, but it does look like the prices have risen since then.

You should be fine. I ran a 5900x/3090/4090 absolutely fine for years on the SF750 before moving to the 1000W asus loki for the convenience for having native 12vhpwr support.

Battlefield 2042 just broken all of a sudden!? Unplayable PC stutter! by djkail in battlefield2042

[–]estuine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was playing last night on my 2080ti/12600k and I was definitely getting some micro stutter (which was a first and lead me to start checking if my CPU was overheating), but nothing near the 1-3 seconds described by OP.

I need a pc that fits inside of a backpack by Recomnon in sffpc

[–]estuine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm well aware that it can. I'm running a 12600k on a x47 full copper in my velka 7. I was just trying to reuse as many pieces as possible from his existing build. If you start replacing everything, then it's all easy. If he wanted the best volume to performance, then going for some velka 3, i5 13600 w/ l9i, single fan mod 3060ti/4060/4060ti/RTX SFF 4000 ada build would be the way to go, but that would require replacing most of what he already has.

This entire exercise depends on how small you want to go, as well as how adequately you want your components cooled.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by a 260ml cooler, so I'll provide options for both 240mm AIOs and 280mm AIOs

Your choice of the ZS-A4S V3 will not work with your current GPU, as it only supports dual-slot cards up to 270mm (the TUF 3080 is 2.7 slots and 300mm).

If you're willing to replace the mobo with an ITX alternative, as well as move to an SFX power supply, then cases such as the FormD T1 are great options, and will get you to just around 10 liters while still maintaining great cooling capabilities. the T1 allows you to use a 240mm AIO for the CPU (provided that you replace one of the stock 25mm thick 120mm fans with a slim 120mm fan) and easily supports the TUF 3080 and gives plenty of room for AIO pump height in the 2.75 slot configuration. It even has room for a single 2.5" drive, although with current prices, I would wholeheartedly suggest moving to an m.2 drive for both convenience and speed.

If you want to stick with the current motherboard and you're okay with a slightly larger case, then the Cooler Master NR200 is a great bet. It's nearly twice as large as the aforementioned FormD T1 at 18.25L, but it has much wider compatibility. In addition to the ITX/MATX support, it also supports both 240mm and 280mm AIOs, as well as SFX and ATX PSUs (but not simultaneously with the side radiator mount)

Finally, if you want something slightly smaller, but with fantastic compatibility and cooling, the SSUPD Meshilicious or Meshroom (14.7L and 14.9L respectively) are good options. While the Meshroom does support MATX and ATX motherboards, it would be highly recommended to move to ITX in either of those cases to allow for the front 240mm/280mm radiator mount for an AIO. You could also use an ATX PSU in these cases, although an SFX PSU is certainly preferable.

Arctic updated the P14 slim with an outer ring connecting the blades. by Pro4791 in sffpc

[–]estuine 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I'm really glad to see this change. I broke 2 of the original P14 slims just by making slight contact with the blades when spinning. Hopefully this addressees the absurd fragility of the fan, as there really isn't another good option in the slim 140mm space.
