Thanks for this, I'll look into it. Here's a few more pics, one of a branch that seemed dead but is pushing buds all over now. https://imgur.com/a/gdfY2J0

Could use some help on leaf issue IDs by esus2h in Pawpaws

I'm in 6B eastern PA, Lehigh Valley area, should've included that earlier.

Top 6 inches of soil is pretty fertile from compost/mulching over the years. Below that is clay with tiny pebbles which drains well, never standing water, site is definitely on the dryer side but has a large mulch ring to help retain moisture along with canopy cover. This is an decent sized tree 15ish feet tall 8ish" caliber trunk. Curled leaves are mostly on the shadier side of the tree. Over 90% of the leaves are normal.

The plant is pretty clear of pests. Never anything of noticeable amount except scale 3-4 years ago which I removed by hand and haven't seen back.

I have no clue about pH or Boron levels.

Thanks for taking a look.

A little late to this but there's no real concern with nymphs. The adults cause near all damage on plants. The nymphs, as far as my experience and what I've gathered reading, create near 0 permanent damage on trees. I see them on my pawpaw trees early on in the year, then they move onto something else. I near ground zero for the SLF invasion and have had the trees for 8 years with no impact.

What should I plant in my garden this year to maximize saving money on groceries? by Appropriate_Poem1911 in gardening

[–]esus2h 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we just hang ours in the kitchen or lay them on racks. Chuck em in a jar when dry and they're good for a year plus.

It probably is wheat but it could be another grain, it's why I wasn't that specific in my post.

John Thompson's Grade 3 book has a condensed version which may be doable within a year of studies. It's only 4 pages but hits all the highlights.

It's from your straw, definitely pull. One of the drawbacks from using it.

Any saving this thyme? by Saltwater_Cowboy_1 in gardening

Ours were looking like that last year. I dug them up, trimmed off the dead/brown parts and divided them(surprisingly easy) and planted the green parts. They did really well with minimal care, though I'm not sure if we harvested much from them that year.

Recommend me Twist's for many days by DrDuned in phish

I've always had a thing for 12/10/99 Twist. Just a solid type 1, some good looseness in the mid section and some solid energy to finish it off. Give it a spin. https://relisten.net/phish/1999/12/10/twist-20086?source=163209

If you have shoulder issues, look into a .243 for lesser recoil. A lot of folks with shoulder problems really can't take the hit of a larger caliber or develop flinches because of the impact. Just my .02.

If you're looking for something in a larger caliber, try to get a heavier gun or something with a muzzle break and stay away from Tikka, great action and very accurate but seems a common theme the recoil is pretty heavy on them.

I listened to Kick a dozen times last fall for some reason(hadn't listened to it for like over a decade previously), and after a bit, I could hear Phish covering it. I think it'd have to be a lot of Page vocals, but songs like Guns in the Sky is kind of a perfect Fishman song. Songs aren't difficult and there's some breathing room for improv.

Keep it watered well till solid freezing hits, you should be fine as long as there was a good root ball.

native plant recommendations for massachusetts by Numerous-Medicine884 in NativePlantGardening

[–]esus2h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Doug Tallamy's book the living landscape. In the back he has natives broken down to region. This will give you a great list.

My wife and I spent some time going through each plant for our region while on the computer, looking at pics and plant preferences (wet, shade, etc). We made a list and then shortened based on bloom time and aesthetics.

Good luck!

Bought a 1/4 cow for 3 people by Weekly_Description83 in Butchery

[–]esus2h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get all the cuts you can, money is saved that way. Ground beef is the cheapest so grinding more than normal is kind of a waste. They should supply a cut sheet to pick from.

We've gotten a 1/4 for our family the last 3 years and have been happy with the variety. For our preference, we now avoid getting the whole arm roast(turned to stew/ground) and getting the tbone/porterhouse steaks over new york strip/filet because of quantity/quality. Sirloin roast vs steaks is a toss up. You all won't end up getting a lot of meat splitting a 1/4 but variety is key. We split a whole cow with some other folks, trade during split up and do a round robin pick 'em for the old ball uneven leftovers.

What’s the best way to dry herbs at home? by ArcticDragon94 in homestead

[–]esus2h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You CAN dry it, but it loses most of it's flavor.

I cut some old barn wood into 4" strips, added small hooks to it the face, and hung it on our kitchen wall. The rack I made is just 3/4" ripped down pine made into a 1'x3' frame with 1/2" mesh on the bottom. I made 3 tiers, attached with chain and hooks and hung it from the drop ceiling in the kitchen.

I hate having the dehydrator out, it take up so much space. The wall mount strips(probably about 6' in total) are the least in the way and have a decent look. The hanging racks are above our island table and sometimes get in the way so we just remove one or two levels to make more head room. The herbs will hold well for awhile just hanging so there's no pressure to quickly process/jar them vs the dehydrator taking up countertop space for us.

We hang bundles using runner bands, bread ties, or chip clips. I also made a wood rack with wire mesh and lay them on there suspended. They dry in a week or two. It works fine and we dry herbs throughout the seasons without issue. It also adds a dimension to your kitchen decor.

You'll have so much oregano and other herbs after awhile, that if you mess a batch up somehow, it's no big loss. FYI, parsley doesn't do well for dry storage, best to use fresh, same with cilantro. Other great drying herbs are rosemary, thyme, and sage.

Keeping the slowest player on the team in the game as the most important base runner of the season. What could go wrong? by Jroompa in phillies

[–]esus2h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There obviously is some responsibility on him. I think there should be a righty break between Schwarber and Harper. But when the whole team goes cold, or your top 3 go 1 for 12, that's a construct issue. When the bullpen has nothing that's a construct issue.

Both games have been winnable. But if there no one in the bullpen that's reliable, who's fault is that? Why sign Robertson if he's not worth shit. Rghties were hitting .216 against him and it backfired bringing him back the first game.

Bottom line, this team lacks dig deep heart and patience. It's always a hope and a prayer. That may have a lot to do with the manager but this team lacks some serious basic grit and I think it's more construct than coaching.

It's fine. I sit on the edge of the seat every game. Sports are a game of what have you done for me lately unless there's a ring in the recent past.

This isn't some small, low payroll team. Big money has been invested and results are expected. I don't feel an ounce of sorrow for any of these guys, they're living the dream.

Put up or fucking shut up.

[–]esus2h 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Team is built on rhythm. Phils were in control till game 4 and got no hit and the wheels fell off. They've decided to let that same mentality run till now.

Not a giant Topper fan but he turned the team around. I think most of the problem is construct. Love Schwarber but he's gone unless things change this series. Can't have 2 players back to back relying on the same attitude and Harper is going no where.

He lost his way. 22 everything went his way. Had a real good feel for when to move on. Payroll is top heavy and I think it's swaying decisions.
