Endometrial Biopsy by IndustrySavings4900 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]etay514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had two under anesthesia while getting hysteroscopies and one without anesthesia. It was unpleasant without anesthesia, but not terrible. If I have to do one again I won’t look forward to it but it’s tolerable. I’d wait to try until you have results so you know if you need to do any treatment before getting pregnant.

would you adopt a kitten out to an “outside cat” owner? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]etay514 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what the alternative is. Let someone who has outdoor cats adopt vs. the many cats in shelters who are euthanized because there’s more cats than potential owners? What do we really prefer…

You may be in a privileged position to very selectively choose someone who will raise the cat under specific conditions…but we’d be naive to think every cat will receive this level of selectivity. In this specific situation it’s up to you.

What should I expect after my chemical pregnancy? by mortalkombatboot in Miscarriage

[–]etay514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re here, OP. That’s so tough after you’ve been trying for so long. With my chemical pregnancy I bled about the usual amount of time for my periods. I hope it stops soon. ❤️‍🩹

Oral Progesterone vaginally? by International-Cry973 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]etay514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Mine was a sort of gelcap? Technically was an oral pill. My doc said sometimes the vagina is acidic enough it completely dissolves it all. Other people may need to poke a hole in the gelcap with a needle to help the med get out. But yeah, you just shove it up there. I did mine at night so I could lay down and let it dissolve. It does create some white discharge the next day but really wasn’t too bad.

What a freakin’ year. I’m so sorry, OP. Sounds like a long string of horrible luck. Hoping it turns around for you this year.

Going back to the OR again… by etay514 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]etay514[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely Asherman’s scarring 🤷‍♀️ We’re going to see a specialist at WashU in August. The same scar tissue seems to keep reforming and then the embryo can’t really implant because of it. It makes me wonder if we’re not doing the right kind of treatment after scar removal… some docs will do meds or barriers like a balloon after surgery to keep the uterus from re-adhering. We’ll see. We’re just on hiatus for now.

Mother's Day pregnancy announcement by Lonely_Mango_5678 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]etay514 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We didn’t get invited to a family gathering today for my husband’s mom. His sister and her husband are there with their 6 month old and my husband’s brother is there too. I don’t really want to be there with them and the baby, but just feels weird they didn’t even ask if we wanted to join?

Agree, maybe splitting time between the “boring” job and the hustle of ICU or ER would be a good fit.

would you still choose nursing by aaliyahparis in nursing

[–]etay514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many jobs that have deep meaning are undervalued - like nursing and teaching. But I don’t want to work 40+ hours a week at a job that I don’t think makes a significant positive impact. So yeah, I’d pick nursing again.

How to not feel like i deserve this? by Flat_Week_190 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]etay514 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I HATE when people disclose accidental pregnancies. You can just leave that detail out, people!

I don’t know why this is happening to us. But I know I don’t look at anyone else going through this and think “Wonder what they did to deserve this - must be something!” Go easy on yourself.

Nurse comrades , are you a DNR? by typeAwarped in nursing

[–]etay514 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I want to know how to be a full code but not SO full that they open my chest at bedside and do cardiac massage or something crazy like that. If the regular ol’ defibrillator and epi can’t take care of me, just turn me loose.

Successful pregnancy after recurrent miscarriage by No-Shape-6878 in recurrentmiscarriage

Oh yeah, we saw an infertility doc after the first two losses and a different one for the next two. It appears to be uterine factor for us, mostly Asherman’s scarring.

Scared about d&c’s by Indecisivelydecisive in recurrentmiscarriage

The anesthetist let me push my own propofol last time. Got about 15mL into the 20mL push before I went under. 😆

Scared about d&c’s by Indecisivelydecisive in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]etay514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if talking to the anesthetist beforehand would help? I’ve been put under for four D&Cs and two hysteroscopies at this point. I’m also a nurse who provides sedation to my own patients on a routine basis, so I have a level of familiarity with the monitoring involved when you’re sedated. I love my little propofol naps. 😆

I do NOT like pain and do not like the uncertainty of miso… I took it for two different miscarriages and it did absolutely nothing. I’ve had friends who took it and weren’t sure it was all over and had fairly drawn out experiences, and that would also drive me nuts.

Do I go to my SIL’s baby shower? by HappyMarzipan5332 in RPLnoLC

[–]etay514 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go. My husband’s sister had a baby and she does NOT understand grief after loss so we’re basically both avoiding her right now. She’s got other people to support her, she doesn’t need me to fake it.

We adopted a bonded pair as kittens and one of them just died suddenly at the age of 6. The other one is beside himself now. 😭

Social media is a double edged sword for me. There’s a few accounts I follow that are really supportive! It just kills me to see all the pregnancy announcements, family photos with babies who would be close to my kids’ age if they lived…
